A huge thank you to the organizers of the Wish You Were Here Foundation Golf Outing for choosing to raise funds in support of PADS of Elgin!

Community events like this make such a meaningful difference for our guests and neighbors experiencing homelessness — helping provide shelter, meals, case management, outreach, transportation, and housing-focused support every day.

Still reeling in gratitude after Sunday's Garden Party. 🌿

Thank you to everyone who joined us for A Garden Party — PADS of Elgin's first-ever garden party fundraiser. The afternoon was filled with beautiful art, generous bidding, incredible food, and a community that showed up in a big way for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Thank you to our sponsors, our artists, our silent and live auction donors, and to Gather for the perfect setting. And thank you to Kristal Thompson, whose words during the paddle raise moved the whole room.

We exceeded our fundraising goal — and every dollar goes directly toward the shelter, meals, case management, and housing support that PADS provides every single day.

More stories from this event will be posted in the next few days, but for now we will just say Thank You. We are so grateful. "Hope grows here."🌸

🏳️‍🌈 This Pride Month, PADS of Elgin celebrates love, acceptance, and the power of community!

At PADS, we believe every person deserves dignity, respect, and a safe place to call home - regardless of who they are or who they love. Our doors are open 24/7, 365 days a year to ALL individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

Pride reminds us that when we come together with compassion and understanding, we can create real change. This month, we're especially grateful for our diverse volunteers, staff, and community partners who help us provide shelter, case management, and support services with respect and compassion for all.

We hope to see you at the Elgin Pride Parade on Saturday!

The group walking for PADS of Elgin in the Elgin Pride Parade on June 6th asked us to design a shirt for them to wear, and we wanted to create something centered around a message that feels especially important right now: “You Matter to Me.”

This is a message we all need to hear — but especially right now, the LGBTQ+ community needs to see and feel it as often as possible. A 2025 Trevor Project research brief found that 40% of LGBTQ+ young people reported a history of food insecurity, houselessness, or unmet basic needs. At PADS, we believe every person deserves to feel safe, supported, respected, and valued for exactly who they are.

Shirts are $20 each, with $5 from every shirt going directly to support the shelter and the work happening every day at PADS of Elgin.

Even if you’re not attending Pride, wearing one helps spread compassion, visibility, and support throughout our community. Thank you!

We’re honored to be part of this year’s event and grateful for the opportunity to share more about the work happening every day at our shelter and outreach center.

Because of community partners like the Fox Trot, we’re able to provide not just shelter and meals, but relationships, stability, and pathways toward housing for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. We can’t wait to be part of this incredible event!

Our office will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of the holiday — but our outreach team will continue as normal, available from 7:30am–9pm for anyone who needs support.
