This weekly series is your all-access pass to what’s happening inside Take 2 Creative Camp. In each episode, our Take 2 Teens step in front of the camera to share what they’re working on, reflect on their experiences, and give you a behind-the-scenes look at camp life.

Nos honra anunciar que YWCA Elgin ha sido seleccionada como Gran Mariscal del Desfile del Día de la Independencia 2026 de la Ciudad de Elgin. Mientras celebramos los 125 años de YWCA Elgin y nuestro impacto en la comunidad, nos llena de orgullo encabezar este desfile tan especial durante la celebración del 250 aniversario de los Estados Unidos.

We are honored to announce that YWCA Elgin has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the City of Elgin’s 2026 Independence Day Parade! As we celebrate 125 years of YWCA Elgin and our community impact, we are proud to lead this special parade during America’s 250th birthday celebration.

We invite our entire YWCA Elgin family to join us in this exciting moment:

🔨✈️🏠 Building Skills, Confidence, and Fun! 🏠✈️🔨

Our School Age Childcare students recently put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work with building kits generously donated by Home Depot in Elgin!

Using real tools, the children created cars, airplanes, and little houses while learning new skills along the way. For many of our students, this was their very first experience using tools, and they absolutely loved it! The excitement, focus, and sense of accomplishment on their faces as they completed their projects was incredible to see.

A huge thank you to The Home Depot, Elgin for providing this hands-on opportunity that encouraged creativity, learning, and confidence-building. We are so proud of our young builders and can't wait to see what they create next!

Its history connects to leaders like Bayard Rustin, whose courage as a civil rights strategist and openly gay man helped move the nation closer to justice.
