New Juvenile and Young Adult Books
The library has recently signed a new agreement with the Junior Library Guild. Each month we will be receiving new books in the Middle School and Young Adult categories. Below is a picture of our September order. Come check them out!

Win A Dinosaur
Attention children - Elgin Public Library wants you to win an inflatable. Each time you visit the library to check out a book(s) you will be entered into a drawing for one of several inflatable dinosaurs or patriotic beach balls. This giveaway will run through the end of September. Drawings will be held on Wednesday, September 30th. You do not need to be present to win.

Interested in Genealogy?

Ever have questions about your family history? Elgin Public Library is wondering if anyone is interested in discovering your own family history. We are exploring the idea of getting a subscription to a resource that would help in finding out about your family history. It would be fun to have a day at the library where we can all get together and help each other navigate through the process. We don’t want to subscribe to something unless there is an interest and it will be used. Let us know what you think in the comments below. Thanks.

Jurassic Magic by Jeff Quinn, the Magician

As a culmination to our Summer Reading Program, Unearth a Story, Elgin Public Library will be hosting Jeff Quinn, the Magician. It will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2:00 at the Elgin Community Center. Jeff’s show will feature “Jurassic Magic”. There will be a lot of dinosaur tricks and routines in the show, but nothing scary.

Admission is free. Just come and enjoy the fun!

Petting Zoo tomorrow behind the library from 10:00 to noon. There will also be a lady here to make balloon animals. Because of the Petting Zoo, we will not be having Story Time on Wednesday.

Summer Reading - Unearth a Story

Summer Reading begins Monday, June 1 and runs through Monday, June 29th.

Young children ages 3 and 4 are invited to story time on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15. A second story time will follow for ages 5 & 6 beginning at 10:30 until 11:15. Children who have completed grades 1 – 5 are invited to come on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 for Activity time. It will last about 1 hour and will start on Thursday, June 4 and will end on June 25.

We will also be having our Summer Reading Challenge. Anyone interested in participating may stop by the library the week of May 26th through June 1st and get their Reading log.
