Wow, Elgin! We did it! Words cannot express the amount of gratitude and humility that I am feeling right now. There has been a flood of constant support since filing my candidacy on December 4th. The kind words, respect and love along the way made all of the tireless hours of campaigning and hard work undoubtedly worth it. We were blessed to have met so many people who care deeply about the school district and the kids. So many different perspectives and point of views were shared with me and we sincerely appreciate them all. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank a few people.
To my wife, Jayce, and my kids, Hollis, Houston and Holdyn, thank you for standing by my side throughout every waking moment of this campaign. For tolerating me during all of the stress of this. For being my campaign team, helping drive all 100 t-posts and doctoring signs as needed. I promise, we are done with the signs… at least for the next 5 years! There have been countless moments over the past few months where your actions and support have brought me to tears. You have made me the proudest husband and father and I am so thankful for you. I love you all so much!
To my parents, and the rest of my family, thank you for all of your help, support and presence throughout this. Thank you for showing up when it mattered the most even if you weren’t able to show your support by voting. You all are the best.
To my opponent and new friend, Denisse Findlay, thank you for this experience and for running a clean campaign. I appreciate who you are as a person and your passion for Elgin and the school district. You have the biggest heart and it is always on display. Elgin is lucky to have you and I know that you will continue to be deeply involved in the future. My family and I appreciate you and wish you and your family nothing but the best.
Finally, to the Elgin Community and School District, thank you for this opportunity to serve you and for the confidence that you have entrusted in me. I know that I won`t make everyone happy. I know that I will make mistakes along the way. What I can promise and commit to is that I will always do my absolute best. I will always be open to listening and will approach every decision objectively. I will devote myself and take this position very seriously with the children of this district at the foundation of it all. Thank you again for everything.
Now, it is time to get to work and I look forward to learning and growing in this position over the next 5 years!
With respect and thanks,
Taylor Green, Elgin School Board Member
