Elgin Chamber of Commerce Elgin is visibly growing--new businesses, development of the industrial park, & new home construction. The chamber is also growing.

So, business owners & individuals alike, come join us & work together to promote the Elgin area in a positive manner. The Elgin Chamber of Commerce is organized to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Elgin area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community shall prosper. All necessary means of promotion shall be provided, and particular attention and emphasis shall be given to the economic, civic, commercial, cultural, industrial and educational interests of this area. The Elgin Chamber of Commerce was first incorporated on November 27, 1968. When you join the Elgin Chamber of Commerce, you become part of a vibrant and prosperous community of creative entrepreneurs, forward thinking innovators and visionary business leaders. In today’s unique economic times, business which takes advantage of the Chamber’s tools, resources and expansive network, find themselves better positioned to seize the opportunities in front of them opportunities they may not have realized existed. The Elgin Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting an economic climate that strengthens the competitiveness of local businesses and benefits citizens of Elgin. Meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month in the High School Library. Meetings start at noon with lunch available at 11:45. The meetings are designed to be business-like and informative, featuring a wide variety of speakers on issues of importance to business. We also discuss various ways of promoting the Elgin area.

PLANNING TO BURN BRUSH? KNOW BEFORE YOU BURN!

The Comanche County Burn Ban expired on October 19, 2026. While there is currently NO countywide burn ban in effect, residents should continue practicing responsible outdoor burning.

BEFORE YOU BURN:

Notify Non-Emergency Dispatch: (580) 581-3272. Provide your name, address, and location of the planned burn. This helps dispatch identify controlled burns if smoke is reported.

Check Weather Conditions: Avoid burning during windy conditions, elevated fire danger, or when an ozone or particulate matter alert is in effect.

Prepare Your Burn Area: Clear combustible vegetation around your brush pile to establish a firebreak. Keep water, shovels, and other firefighting equipment readily available.

Follow Burning Hours: Under Oklahoma DEQ regulations, burning must begin no earlier than three hours after sunrise and no later than three hours before sunset.

Burn Only Permitted Materials: Brush, limbs, and other allowable vegetation generated on your property may generally be burned. Never burn tires, plastics, treated lumber, or other prohibited materials.

Never Leave a Fire Unattended: Maintain control of your burn and ensure all flames and embers are completely extinguished before leaving.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Smoke must not create hazards for nearby roadways or surrounding properties.

Municipalities may have additional restrictions or permit requirements.

Property owners may be held responsible for damages caused by escaped fires.

Even without a burn ban, conditions may be too dangerous for outdoor burning.

If your fire escapes or becomes uncontrollable, call 911 immediately!

WHAT TO ASK WHEN THE PAIN WON’T STOP

Pain is the source of so much depression and anxiety. Rather than letting it eat us alive, we can choose to feel it and grieve.

When people become the source of our pain, it feels safest to be alone.

The enemy is no different. Scripture says he roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Don't isolate yourself. Surround yourself with the right people.

Some of us just deny it. God wants us to acknowledge what happened so we can start to get free.

God wants you to choose freedom and wisdom over bitterness. Rather than hiding, be willing to be known by others.

God wants us to come out formed. What Joseph's brothers intended for evil when they sold him into slavery, God used for good (Genesis 50:20).

Instead of asking, "How do I make this stop?" ask, "God, what are You inviting me into in this?"
