Dear fellow Elgin community members,

I am thrilled to share that I have been reelected to my third term on the Elgin City Council. I extend my sincerest thanks to everyone who supported my campaign and helped make this victory possible.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to my family for their unwavering support and encouragement. They have stood by me every step of the way, and their love and dedication are truly inspiring.

I also want to thank my friends, including fellow candidates Karin Jones and Ismael Cordová. Your hard work and commitment to our community did not go unnoticed, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make a positive impact on our city.

To everyone who donated, signed petitions, and hosted yard signs – thank you for your support. Your contributions were instrumental in helping to spread the word about my campaign and get out the vote.

And finally, I want to congratulate Mayor David Kaptain on his reelection, as well as Councilwoman Tish Powell and Councilman John Steffen on their reelection. I also want to welcome Councilman-elect Anthony Ortiz to the City Council. Likewise, thank you to all the candidates who put themselves out there to represent our community - Tia Aaegesen, Diana Alfaro, Marcus Banner & Mark Smith. I have no doubt that this dedicated group of leaders will continue to work tirelessly to make Elgin a better place for all of us.

Again, thank everyone who supported me. Your efforts have made a real difference, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact we will continue to have on our community.

During this campaign, I've been asked, "What have you done for the Hispanic Community?" I responded that I had done the same thing for every community member as your Council Woman. I have maintained and supported public safety, been fiscally responsible, and focused on our core services. That's what the Community said was their priority, so that's my priority as your elected official. That's what will benefit all of us. Elgin's residents' needs are my priority, not only the Hispanic Community. When the City of Elgin looks good, we all look good! I always try to represent this community positively.

There's been a lot of talk about diversity. I'm a Latina woman born and raised in Elgin, succeeding in a male-dominated career path in the Army, the Post Office, as a bus driver, the Commander of the American Legion, mastering English as my second language, serving my Country during 1981-1984 when that wasn't the most popular career, and the only bi-lingual representative currently serving on the Elgin City Council. I am very proud of my service locally and abroad.

I have lived in Kane County, Elgin Township, for 40 years and in Cook County, Hanover Township, for 20 years. This gives me insight and perspective into neighborhoods, services available, and different Township roles and responsibilities and how that can benefit our City.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2015 I said I would represent all of us.
Now on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 I am still representing all of us!

I humbly ask for your vote!

From my mom, Josefina "Fina" Martinez:

Don't forget to exercise your right to vote! She's proudly endorsing Mayor David Kaptain for reelection, Karin Jones for Elgin City Council and Ismael Cordová for Elgin City Council, and of course, me for reelection too!

Let's make our voices heard and shape the future of our community by electing community leaders that care about Elgin. 🗳️✨

I am delighted to express my gratitude for receiving an endorsement from the Elgin Police Benevolent & Protective Association of IL Unit #54. The Elgin Police Department is a prime example of excellence in law enforcement in the country, and it is an honor to receive recognition from such an esteemed organization.

The Police Department of Elgin remains steadfast in serving our community 24/7/365, with a sharp focus on education and training, exemplifying leadership through the community policing model. The City's safety is a direct reflection of the Police Department's dedication and expertise.

During a recent event at the Great Lakes Naval Base, I had the opportunity to interact with community leaders from various regions. I was delighted to receive positive feedback on Chief Laley's and the Elgin Police Department's accomplishments. Being an elected official from such a community, where the Police Department garners positive recognition, fills me with immense pride.

It is worth noting that on certain occasions, the Police Department's reputation outshines that of the City of Elgin. Nevertheless, I am aware that both entities are equally praiseworthy, and I am genuinely proud of our public service and safety accomplishments.

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Elgin Police Benevolent & Protective Association of IL Unit #54 for the endorsement and for their commendable work. It is an absolute privilege and honor to have received this endorsement.
