Update from the Village of South Elgin.

*** The recently acquired portion of the Fox River Trail along the east side of the river (across from Panton Mill Park) will be closed for approximately two weeks while our Public Works crew improves the trail (sure the buckled pavement along the river's edge adds a bit of daredevil excitement to any ride, but we're opting for a smoother cruise thru the Village Center 🙂). In the meantime, North Center Street provides a brief detour around the work site and re-connects to the trail just beyond Water's Edge Apartments. Look for more updates during the next couple of weeks! ***

Great news from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County for everyone that enjoys the Fox River Trail! 🚲

It's been 13 long years in the making, but we finally celebrated the official opening of a tunnel beneath the UPRR tracks, reconnecting the Elgin Branch of the Illinois Prairie Path with the Fox River Trail, at Raymond Street in South Elgin. President Mike Kenyon cut the ribbon, July 12, with an assist from Forest Preserve President Christopher W. Kious. Forest Preserve District staff, commissioners and representatives from Alfred Benesch & Company were also on hand to mark the occasion.
