Join us Tuesday, March 24th from 5:00 - 8:00 at the Culver’s of South Elgin on 280 Randall Road for an Abbott Culver’s night to support our Scholastic fair! Any funds raised will go toward helping students to afford books at the fair.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Abbott Middle School! Get ready for the newest must-read books, bestselling series, and all your favorite characters. Students will visit the book fair with their ELA or ESL class during the week of April 13th - April 17th. Students are also welcome to get a pass to visit the fair during their lunch period. A portion of every purchase supports the Abbott library! If you don't want to send your student to school with cash, make sure to set up an eWallet for your child before the fair on Abbott’s Scholastic home page! You can share the eWallet link to friends and family to donate to your child's account. If you wish to support other students in getting books at the fair, you can use Abbott's Share the Fair to donate to your child's classmates!

¡La Feria de Libros de Scholastic llega a la Escuela Secundaria Abbott! Prepárense para los libros más nuevos e imprescindibles, las series más vendidas y todos sus personajes favoritos. Los estudiantes visitarán la feria de libros con su clase de ELA o ESL durante la semana del 13 al 17 de abril. We can’t miss out on wishing a Happy National School Counseling Week to Abbott’s very own Mrs. Porters and Mrs. Jackson-Williams. This iconic duo wears many hats throughout the day at Abbott. You can usually find them juggling a radio, computer, 34 emergent issues they need to solve… and they still do it with a smile on their faces! ✅

Thank you both for the important work you do at Abbott and for helping our students to be the best versions of themselves and preparing them for their next steps in life. We are lucky to have such dedicated people. 💙

WOW! What a treat we had this morning. Members of SALT joined us at our staff meeting (yes, these middle schoolers willingly showed up at 7:45!). They participated in a Fishbowl discussion facilitated by staff members regarding student voice and their experiences at Abbott. 🗣️

These students shared their favorite things about Abbott, challenges they’ve faced and overcome at school, the importance of student voice, and advice for teachers. You could have heard a pin dropped as the staff leaned in to hear what these brave students were willing to share. 👂🏼

Takeaways:
✅ They NOTICE the teachers that show up for them every day.
✅ They want students to treat each other with kindness and respect.
✅ They feel supported by the adults in the building.
✅ They (really) like seeing their friends every day.

Parents, you should be proud. Thank you for trusting us with your kids. These Warriors make every day better. 💙

Our Student Advisory Leadership Team (SALT) is hosting a No Bullying, Just Belonging week!

Students have already experienced lessons surrounding anti-bullying and creating belonging. Today, these adorable affirmations and mini mirrors popped up around the school to remind students that they are important, strong loved, and they belong here.

Thank you to the Warrior families and friends that came out to support the Abbott Middle School band last night at their winter concert. The band sounded amazing and the pies… well we will have to ask Mrs. Hartley how the pies tasted.

As usual, Mrs. Hartley was a trooper and took pies to the face for students who completed BANDO (similar to Bingo… but more musical).

💙 Happy National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to our favorite man on the force- Detective Jackson! 💙

Det. Jackson is a very active member of Abbott’s community and he can often be found sitting alongside students in the classrooms (he’s even been know to try a formative or two), helping with arrival and dismissal in the morning with his Bestie (Mr. Beck), and helping out anywhere and anyone who needs it.

In his spare time Det. Jackson likes working out, hanging with his dog, or finding some kind of project to keep him busy. We’re not entirely sure how this Maroons fan tolerates being in Larkin territory all day- but somehow he makes it through!

Our halls and streets would not be the same without the genuine joy and compassion that Det. Jackson brings to Abbott. You truly are a Warrior at heart. Keep up the great work!

We’ve been “Rockin’ Around” Abbott today with performances from the band and orchestra. Students and teachers alike enjoyed a short concert during lunches. What a treat to warm our hearts on this chilly December day! 🎻⛄️🎄

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. 🦃

Yesterday, our National Junior Honors Society students assembled Thanksgiving boxes for 44 Abbott families. The boxes contained everything families needed for a full Thanksgiving feast. The students did an AMAZING job and it was so nice to see their focus and joy in this act of service to the community.

We want to thank all of the community and staff members who donated as well as Abbott’s Student Council who joined us to help! Special thanks to those who made deliveries to families who requested it.

We love our Abbott community and hope that everyone has a restful, fulfilling holiday break.
