AMT1, LRS Production, Corey Lupton
We are proud to feature AMT1 Corey Lupton, recently selected as ALC's 2025 Enlisted Person of the Year (EPOY)! Demonstrating exceptional professionalism and leadership, AMT1 Lupton serves as the sole Long-Range Surveillance (LRS) product line HC-130J Loadmaster Examiner and Flight Examining Board representative. Over the past year, he expertly managed the enlisted LRS aircrew qualification pipeline and spearheaded quality assurance for multiple depot-level aircraft overhauls. His technical mastery, highlighted by his HC-130J engine run qualification, has been vital to ensuring the efficient return of overhauled aircraft to the fleet. Beyond his official duties, his dedication to the community shines through his mentorship of students in the Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies (NEAAAT) intern program.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO ALC AND WHAT IS YOUR ROLE WITHIN ALC?
I transferred to ALC from Air Station Elizabeth City in the Summer of 2024.
WHAT ARE YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES?
Primary QA, HC-130J aircrew (Loadmaster), LRS Flight Examining Board Chair (HC-130J Basic Aircrew and Loadmaster flight examiner), CGNR 2001 Plane Captain, Maintenance Resource Management Facilitator.
CAN YOU HIGHLIGHT SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE PROJECTS YOU'VE WORKED ON DURING YOUR TIME HERE?
I’ve taken part in 3 separate aircraft’s functional check flights. (CGNR 2010, 2011, and 2017) I find these flights to be fascinating because the differ wildly from our normal flying profile. It’s a nice breakup of routine and I still learn a lot from them. I volunteered to mentor 2 NEAAAT students that spent half of a semester with LRS QA. Between aircrew instruction, and mentoring of the NEAAAT students, I found that I enjoy teaching.
WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT WORKING FOR ALC?
First and foremost, I really appreciate seeing the dedication and attention to detail from all the people on the hangar deck, whether it’s active, government, or contract workers. At the end of the day, it’s my friends and fellow “Coasties” training and completing missions on these aircraft. I feel reassured that we are providing safe assets to the fleet. On a smaller note, I love a good sea story, so I have enjoyed interacting with the numerous retired or prior active military workers here at ALC.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO PURSUE A SIMLAR CAREER PATH?
Be flexible. Know your stuff but always strive to keep learning.
COULD YOU SHARE A FUN OR SURPRISING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF OR WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO MOST OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Happily married with two daughters and one son. I enjoy dabbling in music, history, and the occasional mind-bending movie.
