Actors, singers, dancers needed!

We are excited to be hosting Center Stage Musical Theatre's auditions for "Spill the Tea!", an original musical, on Saturday, May 23rd! Auditions will take place from 1-3 pm at Arts of the Albemarle.

The production is seeking to cast 30 adults and teens, and 10 children (ages 10+) for this exciting new musical inspired by the bold women who defied King George III during the American Revolution.

Auditioners should prepare 30 seconds of a Broadway-style song, planning either to bring an accompaniment track or sing a ca****la. Dancers are encouraged to audition as well and may prepare a 15-second dance sequence; singing is optional for dancers. The show is also seeking two professional violinists (paid) who perform with electric violins in addition to marching band drummers, preferably from an area school.

Walk-in auditions are welcome during the 1-3 pm window on May 23, or non-local submissions may be accepted virtually. Contact the production team to inquire.

Times are hard right now. Gas is over $4 in some places, groceries keep climbing, and even cans of cat food that used to be $.50 are now close to $1 each. It adds up fast.

We want you to know you are not alone. Our Pet Food Pantry is here to help families keep their pets fed and at home during tough times.

We cannot guarantee specific brands, but we will share what we have. Assistance is available once per month while supplies last. We are always taking donations for both our furry friends and our pet pantry so if its a brand we can't use, it goes right back to the community.

Sometimes people just need a little help getting through, and that is okay.

Our animal shelter needs help.

We need to talk for a minute.

This past week, 50 animals came into the shelter. Only 10 were adopted and 4 made it back home. That kind of intake is hard, and we can’t keep up without help.

We know not everyone can adopt, and we understand that. But there are other ways to show up for these animals.

If you have old towels, blankets, or sheets, we can use them every day. If you are a coupon master and stock up on pet food, consider donating a little to help us care for the animals here and support families through our pet pantry. Skip a fancy coffee just once a month and donate that $5-$7 to help care for a newborn kitten.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is the time. Even something as simple as walking a dog that has been waiting for weeks can make a difference. Give us a call at 252-335-2848.

And about the feral cats, we hear you. We’re doing everything we can, but this isn’t something one group can fix alone. There is no “they.” It takes all of us.

Just a friendly little reminder about our Rabies Clinic coming up on March 21.

No appointment is needed, so you are absolutely welcome to just show up with your pet. But if you have a minute, we do encourage everyone to pre register ahead of time. It helps us make sure we have enough vaccines, supplies, and everything else ready so every wagging tail and curious kitty that comes through the door is covered.

A couple quick reminders for clinic day:

• This clinic will be offering the one year rabies vaccine only
• Dogs must be on a leash
• Cats must be on a leash or in a carrier
