Albemarle Area United Way: Strengthening Communities Across Northeastern North Carolina
The Albemarle Area United Way is a trusted nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life across nine counties in Northeastern North Carolina: Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Pasquotank, and Perquimans.

Through strategic partnerships with over 20 local agencies—

including the Food Bank of the Albemarle, Albemarle Hopeline, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and the YMCA—we support vital programs that address food insecurity, youth development, domestic violence prevention, and community wellness.

We are proud to introduce the Community Care Collaborative, a targeted initiative designed to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families experiencing temporary crises in Camden, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties.

At Albemarle Area United Way, we believe in the power of collaboration to create lasting impact. Join us in building stronger, healthier communities throughout Northeastern North Carolina.

Today is the last day of August. Soon, the warmth of summer will give way to the crisp air and colorful beauty of fall. Change is a natural part of life, bringing new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and reasons to be grateful.

Today is National Beach Day and living on the Carolina coast reminds us that even the smallest things can make a big difference. Just as a beach is made up of millions of grains of sand, a strong community is built through countless acts of kindness, generosity, and support.

The United Way family is devastated by the news of Dolly Parton’s passing. Dolly was a superstar in every sense of the word—on the stage, screen, and the airwaves. But the only thing larger than her voice was her deeply generous spirit, which she used to bring people together all around the world.

For more than 15 years, United Way has proudly partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide children with books and foster a love of learning. Through this work, we saw firsthand, Dolly’s deep belief that every child – no matter the circumstances – deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive. Today, the inspirational program spans five countries, and has provided more than 300 million books to children around the world.

United Way will be forever grateful for Dolly’s partnership, friendship, and shared belief in making the world a better place. The world will miss Dolly. But her larger-than-life legacy will live on every time her irresistible voice comes on the radio, every time we see her bright smile flash across our screens, and every time a child picks up an Imagination Library book.

On behalf of the entire United Way network, we extend our deepest condolences to Dolly’s family, friends, and the millions of people she touched. We are profoundly grateful for her partnership and friendship and the United Way family will be honored to help carry forward the spirit of generosity she embodied.

As a new school year begins tomorrow, the Albemarle Area United Way would like to extend our best wishes to all the administrators, teachers, school staff, students, bus drivers and families across our community.

Thank you to the educators who inspire, guide, and encourage our children every day. To the students, may this year be filled with learning, growth, friendship, and success. To the bus drivers who are learning the new routes-safe travels with your precious cargo. And to the families supporting them every step of the way, thank you for all you do.
