EFHS Amazing Athlete Scholarship

We are proud to announce our 2026 Amazing Athlete recipient, Brooke Yurkovich!

Brooke is the Vice President and Social Media Manager of the Green Team, a member of the Student Government Association, Elite 20, Leadership Academy, and National Honor Society. In these clubs, she has helped organize pep rallies, organized landscaping at a local elderly club, conducted peer tutoring, and helped with environmental cleanup events. She has recieved 13 varsity letters between cross country, track, indoor track, and swimming. In her 14 year swimming career, Brooke is a WPIAL individual medalist in the 200 individual medley as well as medalist in the 200 free relay and a PIAA state finalist. After high school, Brooke is planning to continue her running career and education at the State University of New York Cobleskill Agriculture and Technology. There, she will be studying plant science in hopes of eventually becoming a Plant Genetics Research Scientist. Brooke’s accomplishments are beyond impressive, while her coaches and teachers emphasized her incredible character, leadership, and kindness.

We are thrilled to share this exciting update about our 2025 recipient Madison Alessio! Her mother kindly shared this with us! So happy our scholarship recipients are doing incredible things.

Today was a beautiful and busy day for Madison Alessio at Westminster College! This morning, Madison along with her Environmental Economics classmates, participated in URAC (Undergraduate Research & Arts Celebration) where they displayed their research findings. This evening, she was recognized at the WC Honors Convocation for being named to the Dean’s List, and for being selected as a member of Lambda Sigma Honor Society. Congratulations to Madison and all of the other students who were honored. She also discovered that a poem she wrote last semester was one of many on display on the campus lawn today.

Happy New Year! We are thrilled to announce we will be awarding another scholarship this year through EFAFA, thanks to the tremendous support we received through the Go Fund Me. The scholarship is $1,200. Please encourage anyone who is a female senior in athletics at EF to apply through the guidance office. The deadline is February 28th. To everyone who donated or shared our post, thank you from the bottom of my heart. We did send out thank you messages through the Go Fund Me platform, due to not having contact information for all supporters. We will continue to post updates about our recipient once we go through the selection process. As a student who received scholarship support, I know firsthand that every gift makes a difference. Thank you for helping me continue Mrs. Blackwood’s legacy and support our amazing students at EF! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has supported the scholarship for the this year! We reached our goal of $1,000 in just two days, WOW! If anyone still wants to support the scholarship, we will be accepting donations until November 23rd. The funds must submitted to EFAFA by the end of the month. Thank you all so much for helping to honor Tammy and make this a reality for the amazing seniors at EF ❤️ I could not do it without your love and support, thank you.

We apologize for the delay in sharing the plans for this year. We are determined to continue honoring Tammy’s legacy at Elizabeth Forward through the Amazing Athlete Scholarship each year. Due to increased catering and events costs, we have decided to begin a GoFundMe for the fundraising of the scholarship. While we loved hosting the annual fundraiser, we felt with increased costs, this is the best way to continue the scholarship. We are so grateful for all of the support and generosity we have recieved from the community and if you are interested in supporting the scholarship, the link is below. Thank you so much!

We are ecstatic to celebrate our scholarship recipient Madison Alessio! Madison will be studying at Westminster College this fall after an amazing four years at Elizabeth Forward. Madison held over a 4.1 GPA, while involved with swimming, track, and cross country. She was involved with the Partner’s PE Program as well as numerous other volunteer roles in the community. Her essay, leadership, and character exemplifies what it means to be an amazing athlete and we wish her nothing but the best in her next chapter! Congratulations Madison!
