The Village of Elizabeth is pleased to announce a significant upgrade to police public safety.

Through the LaMATS Municipal Surplus Property Program, we have successfully acquired a fully up-fitted and operational 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe for the Elizabeth Police Department.

Securing this warrantied vehicle allows Elizabeth’s Police Department to enhance local law enforcement capabilities. We are incredibly grateful to LaMATS for creating this surplus program, which serves as an invaluable asset for smaller communities to access vital equipment affordably and efficiently.

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Board of Aldermen for approving this transaction, and to the Town of Woodworth, Mayor Butler, and Chief Masters for their excellent partnership.

Sincerely,
Mandy L. Green

Yesterday’s “Elizabeth’s Beautiful Blitz” was an inspiring day of service as we came together to honor America’s 250th Birthday.

In coordination with parishes across the state, we were proud to participate in Love The Boot Week, further strengthening our commitment to Keep Louisiana Beautiful. This event was a reminder that positive leadership is rooted in teamwork. Seeing our village employees and residents work side-by-side proved that when we lead with a shared vision, there is no limit to what we can accomplish for our home.

Together, this incredible team collected around eighty-five 55-gallon bags of litter along 1.7 miles of our roads. Littering is a conscious choice, but it is one that is 100% preventable. When we choose to care for our environment, we are choosing to lead by example and invest in the future of the community we love. 🌿

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the dedicated Elizabeth staff and every volunteer who brought their energy and heart to this effort.

I also want to share a special thank you to:

🧡Modern Woodmen of America (Ms. Caroline and Abigail Willis) for their generous donation of supplies and refreshments.

🖤Norma and Reba Ware for preparing a wonderful celebratory meal of boiled crawfish, crabs, and shrimp.

🧡Officer Zack LaCaze for slowing down traffic and making sure we remained safe on the highway.

It is such an honor to lead a community that understands the true value of working together for the benefit of others.

With gratitude,
Mayor Mandy L. Green

Today was such a meaningful day in Elizabeth, LA.

Today, we celebrated and , as we gathered for our "Planted in Love" memorial.

We didn't just put roots in the ground today; we took a quiet step back in time to say 'thank you' to those who dedicated more than a decade of their lives to public service. By honoring them, we are nurturing the seeds of progress they planted for the community we are so proud to call home today. 🌳✨

At Town Hall:
We planted Satsuma, and Plum trees 🍊🍑.
To me, these fruit trees represent the "harvest" we enjoy today. They stand in honor of those who gave more than a decade of their lives to Elizabeth, LA—their long-term service is the reason our community continues to bear fruit.

At Finke Park:
We planted a Red Oak and a Magnolia—symbols of the enduring strength and beauty of our history.

(The Red Oak):
The Red Oak at Finke Park is dedicated to two individuals who made history here in Elizabeth, LA.

•Mr. Henry Carston (1977–1994): Our first Black Councilman, who gave 17 years of his life to open doors for all who would follow.

•Mrs. Shirley Faye Smith (2003–2018): As our first Black Councilwoman, Mrs. Shirley Faye Smith did not just make history—she became a defining light for her family and the community. For 16 years, her unwavering leadership remains a testament to what is possible when dedication meets deep love for one’s community.

Just as the oak stands firm through the seasons, their years of commitment provide a lasting foundation for the future of Elizabeth, LA.

A Promise Kept (The Magnolia):
The new Magnolia at Finke Park is more than just a tree; it is a promise. For many years, our community was cared for by Dr. Osborn, whose kindness left a mark on so many people’s lives. Years ago, a memorial planted in his honor was lost. His wife, Mrs. Osborn, carried a wish in her heart to see that tribute restored. Though she has since gone to join him, today we made sure her wish was fulfilled. We planted this Magnolia not just for the Doctor, but for both of them—returning their legacy of care to the very park Mrs. Osborn loved so much.

Honoring Decades of Sacrifice:
While I am so thankful for everyone who has stepped up to serve for even for a few years, these fruit-bearing trees at Town Hall are a personal "thank you" to those who made Elizabeth their life’s work.

As we remember the rare endurance:

•Mayor Robert "Bobby" Crafton
(20 years, 1998–2018)

•Mayor Warren Clark
(17 years, 1981–1998)

•Town Clerk Marie Beeson
(19 years, 1985–2004)

•Councilman Clifford Fontenot
(12 years, 1964–1976)

•Councilman Louis Jeans
(13 years, 1967–1980)

•Councilman L.C. Gill
(13 years, 1965–1978)

•Councilman Lawrence Crawford
(11 years 1965-1969, 1986 - 1993)

Please Note:
Going through old records to find these names and dates was a true labor of love. If we missed someone due to gaps in our history, please know it wasn't intentional.

Send us a Facebook message to correct the unintentional oversight- We value everyone who serves our community.

As Mayor, I carry the spirit of every person who served our community in my heart.

I would also like to say a huge THANK YOU to the families who shared these wonderful people with us for so many years.

Sincerely,
Mayor Mandy L. Green

We are thrilled to report that our “LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR” event was a success. This year, as we stepped up our game for Love the Boot Week, our community really showed out.

Together, we hauled 7 full loads of junk and debris, making a massive dent in beautifying our community. A huge THANK YOU to the property owners who participated and took the time to clean up their spaces.

Your hard work is exactly what makes Elizabeth such a great place to live.

Let’s keep this momentum going as we work toward a cleaner, more beautiful Elizabeth, LA!

FACTS:
Did you know the Village of Elizabeth has offered a property cleanup twice a year for the last 9 years?

Keeping our community tidy is a team effort. To help everyone stay in compliance with property maintenance, the Village of Elizabeth offers a biannual cleanup every Spring and Fall. During this time we encourage ALL property owners to take advantage of the Village Dumpster to dispose of junk from porches, carports, and yards.

We want to help you keep your properties looking their best and under compliance! 🏘️

During our cleanup months, we provide a free dumpster located by Town Hall / Water Tower for residents inside the city limits. This is the perfect time to clear out unwanted junk and maintain your property’s appearance.

Here are your 3 ways to participate in our biannual cleanup: Dates are sent to residents by courtesy letter or email.

1️⃣ DROP OFF: The dumpster available dates: which is usually Mon–Thurs, 8 AM to 3 PM.

2️⃣ AFTER HOURS: Can’t make it during the day? Call Town Hall to schedule a time, and we will make sure the gate is unlocked for you!

3️⃣ WE HAUL FOR YOU: No truck or trailer? On a provided date usually sent by letter or email our crew will pick up debris along the road right-of-way. (Note: Items must be at the curb; we cannot enter private property).

Let’s work together to keep Elizabeth beautiful! 🌸🍂

The Future of Elizabeth is in Good Hands! 🐾

April is “Keep Louisiana Beautiful Month,” so the staff at Elizabeth Town Hall stopped by EHS to visit our youngest Bulldogs (K-4th grade)! They spent the afternoon teaching the students what it means to be a "Leader Against Litter."

We hope these young children discovered that you’re never too small to make a BIG difference in your community.

We are keeping an eye out for these little leaders during Love the Boot Week (April 18–26)— now that they know exactly how to use our brand-new trash containers and why keeping Elizabeth beautiful matters!

Speaking of being leaders-
Who’s ready to help us shine?
📸 SNAP & SHARE CHALLENGE: ✨✨
We want to see you in action! Post a photo of yourself using the newly installed receptacles and use the hashtags below. Let’s show the state how much the Bulldogs love our village!✨✨

Let our Bulldogs lead the way! 🐾

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!
Dear Bulldog Family and Friends,
We are so excited to invite you to join us tomorrow as we celebrate a significant milestone for our community—the official lighting of our baseball and softball fields! This is a day to honor our history and look forward to a bright future for our athletes. The festivities will take place at the Elizabeth High School Ball Fields beginning at 11:00 AM, with special mid-game ceremonies held during the intermission of our scheduled games. We have a wonderful afternoon planned, beginning with a tribute to our legacy as we recognize our past State Championship Teams and dedicate a special memorial monument to the late Coach Charles Hurst, featuring guest speaker Chayce Hurst. We would also like to take this opportunity to officially recognize and honor Coach Robert Brown for his dedicated service and contributions to our athletic programs.

Following these honors, we will move into the facility dedication to formally recognize the incredible support of the OXY Corporation. We are honored to host keynote speakers Mr. Dewitt Carrier, Superintendent Brad Soileau, and a representative from OXY Corporation for the official 'Turning on the Lights' ceremony.

The celebration continues into the second game of the baseball double-header, which will be kicked off by an honorary first pitch from our OXY representatives. We invite you to come hungry, as OXY Corporation is graciously providing complimentary food for all paying attendees. The cost of admission is $10 per person, which includes one meal per paying attendee. Lunch service will begin at 11:30 AM, and all attendees must present their complimentary meal ticket to receive their plate. Senior citizens who would like a lunch are welcome to make a donation in lieu of the entry fee.

Members of the media from KPLC, KALB, and the Oakdale Journal will also be on-site to help us capture this historic day. We cannot wait to see the community come together to celebrate our students and our school. See you at the fields—Go Bulldogs!

The Village of Elizabeth is proud to announce it has been selected as a recipient of the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Trash Receptacle Grant. This award provides five heavy-duty, high-quality trash receptacles to be installed at Finke Park / Basketball Court area to help reduce litter and keep our community beautiful.

Data shows that properly installed and maintained receptacles can reduce littering by up to 78%.

We look forward to installing these new units by May 1, 2026, as part of our ongoing commitment to a cleaner and more beautiful Elizabeth, LA.
