What a wonderful evening celebrating in Union! There's something special about belonging to a community that's safe, filled with kind and uplifting neighbors, thriving families, and elected officials deeply invested in ensuring a quality of life for all.

A special thank you to UPD Director Chris Donnelly and our exceptional UPD officers, Township Committee members, Congresswoman McIver, and Mayor Guerra-Frasier for leading by example—showing us what it looks like when our officials and public safety partners genuinely build relationships with the community.

Gratitude to all our vendors and sponsors who made this night possible. And most importantly, thank you to our residents and families who brought the energy, joy, and togetherness that made this evening truly memorable. 🙏❤️💚💛

This morning I stopped by Union County’s monthly Fresh Start event. The Fresh Start program is provided by Union County’s Department of Human Services to allow access to clean showers, laundry services, and bathroom facilities to individuals in need. The County’s Human Services Offices partner with local non-profits and private resource providers to assist residents with emergency shelter, immigration processing, medical check ins, mental health services, and much more.
I am so proud to support programs like this that assist those most in need throughout our county.

What a fantastic night! So grateful to have joined my fellow Commissioners, Prosecutor Bill Daniel, Police Chief John da Silva, and our incredible law enforcement and county staff at UCNJ Union College for an evening of sensory-friendly fun, games, food, and community connection.

Thank you to our Sheriff's Office, Prosecutor's Office, Police Department, Fire Department, Cranford Police, Children's Specialized Hospital, and our generous partners for making this possible.
Already looking forward to next year! 💙

The Township of Hillside celebrated Freedom Day with an amazing all-day community celebration at Paul Korlesky Park! I was honored to join Commissioner Neron, Mayor Hyatt, and local elected officials in remarks reminding us all why we must never stop learning, teaching, and remembering the history of Juneteenth. 🖤

Freedom Day must be kept alive in the minds and hearts of our community — especially our youth. 💪🏿

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and to all who made this day possible. Happy Juneteenth! 🎊

I had the honor of joining the 6th Annual Juneteenth Festival in the Township of Union — a powerful celebration of history, community, and the continued fight for equality.

I was proud to stand alongside my fellow Commissioners Neron and Signorello, Senator Cryan, Assemblywoman Quijano, Mayor Guerra-Frazier, and the township committee members as we kicked off the day with remarks on the true meaning of Freedom Day — and a reminder that the work is far from over. 💪🏿

A heartfelt thank you to McKayla (who founded this event) as well as the host committee and every vendor, performer, organizer, and community member who made this event so special — and to all who came out to show love and support for the many Black-owned businesses in attendance. 🖤 This is what community looks like. 🙌🏾

What an inspiring evening at the Creole Image Honors Awards! 🇭🇹🏆. I was honored to serve as a presenter and recognize my friend and colleague, Dr. Charnette Frederic, as the recipient of the Toussaint Louverture Community Impact Award. Her unwavering dedication to serving, empowering, and uplifting the Haitian community truly reflects the spirit of this prestigious honor.

Congratulations to all of the honorees whose achievements showcase the excellence, resilience, and leadership of Haitians both locally and across the globe. It was also wonderful to support Fonkoze, the beneficiary of the evening’s fundraiser, whose work continues to create opportunities and strengthen communities throughout Haiti.

Last night was a powerful celebration of our culture, our accomplishments, and our collective impact. Proud and grateful to have been part of such a memorable evening. ☀️🇭🇹✨

Happy Juneteenth! 🖤❤️💚

On this day in 1865, the last enslaved Americans learned they were free. Freedom announced isn't always freedom felt — but today we celebrate how far we've come and recommit to the work still ahead.

Yesterday, we were honored to gather for Union County's annual Juneteenth Flag Raising alongside Chairman Joseph Bodek, Commissioners Neron & Baker, Surrogate Hudak, and Prosecutor Bill Daniel. Special gratitude to Mr. Jim Pierce and Pastor Richard Starling of CCC Family Worship Center for making the moment truly special.
To liberation, community, and the victories to come! ✊🏾

🎓✨ Honoring the Men Who Build Our Future…Yesterday, Ola Edwards School in Hillside honored remarkable men who show up every day for our children — and it was well deserved!

Congratulations to Commissioner Stan Neron, Anthony Salters, La’Quan Guilford, Jordan Todaro & Jose Pereira whose dedication to education and youth sets the standard for us all.

These men give unselfishly of themselves, pouring heart and purpose into young lives and reshaping the very fabric of our community. It was truly an honor to acknowledge them.

To every man recognized yesterday — you are seen, you are celebrated, and your impact is immeasurable.

A special thank you to PACA for organizing such a meaningful and heartfelt event. Your dedication to preserving and celebrating Portuguese culture is a gift to this entire community.

To the Portuguese community of Union Township and across Union County — Feliz Dia de Portugal! Obrigado. Thank you for your legacy, your pride, and your enduring contributions to our shared home. I am grateful to stand with you. 🇵🇹❤️🙏🏾

🎉 What a day at Lightning Brook Park Community Day with Union Mayor Guerra-Frasier, Commissioners Neron and Baker and residents at the recently renovated Lightning Brook Park at 1614-1656 Union Avenue in Union.

It was wonderful seeing the community come out together on a hot day & enjoying the stunning 5.58-acre park featuring a multi-purpose turf field, basketball court, splash pad, playground, covered pavilion, shaded areas, bleachers, restroom facility, and updated lighting!

This is what community is all about — coming together, having fun, and enjoying the beautiful spaces we’ve built for YOU! This park is YOURS — come out, bring the family, and make it your go-to spot all summer long! 🌳✨
