With the recent passage of Senate Bill 522, the Sheriff of each county will not be conducting a tax lien sale in the Fall. All real estate taxes that remain delinquent as of October 31 will be certified to the state of West Virginia to be sold at a later date by the State Deputy Land Commissioner.
Please be aware of this new way of handling the land sale. September Publication and certified letters in October are still in effect. It will be best to pay before it gets certified to the State.

Today the new DMV system rolls out in the Tax Office on renewals. Please remember it will add an additional $1.00 to each renewal on top of the already added $1 or $2 the office charges. Example if renewal says 51.50 for one year it will now be 53.50. If renewal says 103.00 for a two year it will now be 106.00. Please be patient, its new to us as well but we do feel everything will go smoothly.

Effective March 1, 2021

We will be implementing a new DMV software for renewing vehicle registrations.

We will be able to renew without renewal paperwork sent from DMV if lost or never received, however if you receive the DMV renewal paperwork please still bring this to office along with insurance information. We must see a valid insurance card to verify for renewal.

There will be an additional fee of $1.00 per vehicle registration for this service on top of the fees already imposed. We apologize for the added fees but this will get the information processed and into the DMV system within hours instead of weeks.

Example: one year decal listed as 51.50 on dmv renewal will be 53.50
two year decal listed as 103.00 on dmv renewal will be 106.00

Please also remember if using credit/debit card a minimum of $2.50 or 2.5% of total will still be calculated and added.

The front page of tax inquiry is calculating tax amounts due incorrectly. Click on the detail tab next to ticket to view correct amount. Sorry for any confusion that this has caused.

FYI-

Vehicle registrations for regular Class A plates will increase by $21.50 to $51.50. Special plates will pay the additional $21.50 on top of the special plate fee. DMV customers with July and August renewals that have already received their paperwork in the mail will need to pay the additional $21....

FYI-the tax office does not process Boat, Trailer or RV decals. Those need to be mailed into DMV or visit your closest Regional DMV office. Thank you
