While we go about our daily lives, service members around the world are standing watch, answering the call, and making sacrifices that often mean missing birthdays, holidays, family dinners, and precious moments at home.

VETFEST ’26 🚗 🇺🇸Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an afternoon of cars, music, food and family fun on Sunday, November 8, from 1–3 PM at Berkeley Heights Town Hall!

Enjoy a car show featuring multiple award categories, a live concert, a Giants vs. Eagles watch party, food trucks, a patriotic dog parade and a Veterans Resource Row.

🚘 Car Show: $10 donation per car to enter.
❤️ Proceeds benefit VFW Post 6259, supporting our local veterans.

NATIONAL PETS FOR VETERANS DAY 🇺🇸🐾

Sometimes healing comes with four paws, a wagging tail, and unconditional love. ❤️

On National Pets for Veterans Day, Blue Star Mothers of America recognizes the special bond between veterans and the animals who bring companionship, comfort, purpose, and joy into their lives.

For many veterans, a pet can become a trusted companion through both the good days and the difficult ones. They ask for nothing more than love in return, yet somehow give so much. 🐕🐈

Today, we celebrate our veterans and the furry companions who stand faithfully by their side.

It is with great sadness that the New Jersey Department of Corrections shares the passing of Correctional Police Lieutenant Terrence Green.

Lt. Green began his career with the Department on July 6, 2006, at Southern State Correctional Facility. He was later promoted to Sergeant at Bayside State Prison and ultimately to Lieutenant at New Jersey State Prison on September 23, 2023, where he continued to serve with honor and professionalism until his unfortunate passing on October 16, 2026.

Lt. Green was deeply respected and loved by his peers, friends, and family at New Jersey State Prison and throughout the New Jersey Department of Corrections. His steady leadership, unwavering professionalism, and genuine commitment to service made a profound and lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

The Department extends our deepest condolences and support to his family, friends, and colleagues as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Military Monday 🇺🇸 | U.S. Army Funeral Traditions
Today we’re highlighting the traditions that help honor an Army veteran’s final service to our country.

For eligible veterans, military funeral honors include a detail of at least two uniformed service members, the folding and presentation of the American flag, and the sounding of Taps. At least one member of the detail represents the veteran’s branch of service.

Depending on eligibility, availability and local support, additional ceremonial honors may include a r***e volley, pallbearers, color guard members and other elements that create a fuller final tribute.
That is where local volunteer Honor Guards can play such an important role ...helping communities preserve the traditions, precision and dignity military families deserve.

At Operation Honor Guard, our mission is to make sure these volunteers have the equipment, resources and next generation of veterans needed to keep standing the final watch.

Stand Tall. Honor All. 🇺🇸

Rest in Peace, Clay Township, Ohio, Police Sergeant Jacob Roesler, E.O.W. October 16, 2026.
Sergeant Roesler was responding to a motor vehicle accident with his emergency lights activated when his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle killing him.
He was 26 years old and served the people of Clay Township for three years.
Sarge, rest in the Lord's eternal embrace. Always Honored, Never Forgotten.
