⚠️🌧️ SEVERE WEATHER & FLOOD WATCH — PLEASE BE WEATHER AWARE 🌧️⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area through tomorrow morning.

Additional thunderstorms are expected to move through Western Pennsylvania this afternoon and into the evening, with the potential for:

💨 Damaging winds
🧊 Large hail
🌧️ Heavy downpours and localized flooding
⚡ Possible power outages
🌳 Downed trees, limbs and power lines

With the storms that have already moved through our area and additional severe weather possible today, we are asking residents to please remain alert and use extra caution.

⚡ If you experience a power outage, please contact the Borough Building so we can be aware of affected areas.

🚫 NEVER approach a downed power line. Always assume it is live.

🌳 Be alert for downed trees, limbs and debris, especially while traveling.

🚗 DO NOT drive through standing water or flooded roadways. Water may be deeper than it appears, and road conditions underneath may be unsafe.

📱 Please continue to monitor local weather forecasts and make sure you are able to receive weather watches and warnings throughout the day.

🚨 In the event of an emergency, CALL 911 immediately.

Please stay safe, stay weather aware, and pass this information along to your neighbors, particularly anyone who may not have access to social media.

We would like to inform our community that our annual Flea Market, previously planned for September 5, will not be held this year.

As we look to the future, we're taking this opportunity to revamp and reimagine the event to create an even better experience for vendors, shoppers, and the community.

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE | Enhanced Risk for Severe Storms Today
Strong storms are already beginning to move into parts of the area, with conditions expected to become more active this afternoon and evening. The greatest severe weather threat is expected from 12 PM through 8 PM, but storms may develop outside that window as well.

US National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA has placed much of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather today.

Main threats include:
🌬️ Damaging wind gusts of 70+ mph
🧊 Large hail
🌪️ Isolated tornadoes
🌧️ Localized flash flooding
🌊A Flood Watch is in effect from 1 PM to 11 PM for portions of the region. Rapid flooding of roads, streams, creeks, and low-lying areas could occur.
⛈️Repeated rounds of thunderstorms may produce very heavy rainfall, with rates of 3 to 5 inches per hour possible in the strongest storms.

⚠️ Safety Precautions
✅ Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
✅ Secure outdoor furniture and other loose objects before storms arrive.
✅ Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
✅ Watch for downed trees, large tree limbs, and power lines after storms pass.
✅ Stay away from any downed wires and assume they are energized.
✅ Be prepared for scattered power outages by charging mobile devices and having flashlights readily available.
✅ Seek sturdy shelter immediately if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning is issued for your area.
✅ Call 911 in any emergency, including storm-related injuries, flooded roadway rescues, fires, downed power lines creating an immediate hazard, or any life-threatening situation.

Conditions can change quickly, and impacts may vary significantly from one community to another. Continue monitoring the latest forecasts, watches, and warnings throughout the day, and stay weather aware. 🌩️🚨
