Our faculty and staff enjoyed a wonderful Multicultural Luncheon as we came together to celebrate the diverse cultures and backgrounds that make up the Jerome Dunn Academy community. Staff members shared and savored traditional foods representing countries from around the world, creating an opportunity to learn from one another and strengthen our sense of unity.

The luncheon was a meaningful celebration of diversity, inclusion, and community, highlighting the many cultures that enrich our school each day. In addition, we proudly recognized and celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States, honoring our nation’s history while embracing the cultural diversity that continues to shape and strengthen our country. It was a joyful occasion filled with fellowship, appreciation, and delicious food shared among colleagues and friends.

**Many Cultures, One Community** was this year theme for the 2026 Multicultural Month celebration, a month dedicated to honoring the rich diversity and inclusion that make our school community so special.

Throughout the month, our scholars proudly embraced and celebrated their cultural heritage. One of the highlights was our Multicultural Parade, where students had the opportunity to dress in traditional cultural attire and proudly represent their backgrounds.

JDA also hosted its highly anticipated **Passport Day**, where scholars researched countries from around the world, created artifacts and displays, and shared their knowledge with peers. Students "traveled" from country to country using their passports, learning about different cultures, traditions, and customs while engaging in meaningful conversations and activities.

These celebrations provided valuable opportunities for students to learn from one another, appreciate diverse perspectives, and recognize that while we come from many cultures, we are united as one strong community. The enthusiasm, creativity, and pride displayed by our scholars made Multicultural Month 2026 a truly memorable and enriching experience for all.

Spring Concert Celebration at JDA!

Jerome Dunn Academy School No. 9 proudly held its annual Spring Concert on Wednesday, April 22nd and what a fantastic day it was!

Throughout the day, over 100 talented students took the stage, showcasing their hard work and passion through music and dance. Performances were led by Ms. Pepe (Chorus), Mr. Patel (Band), and Ms. Abreu (Dance), highlighting the incredible dedication and talent within our school.

The celebration was beautifully complemented by an Art Show, featuring student artwork under the guidance of Ms. Sealy and Ms. Harris, truly making it a full day honoring the arts at JDA.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out during the day to support our students and enjoy the performances.

A heartfelt thank you to our administration team, Principal Cristina Viegas, and Vice Principals Ana Amaral, Nancy Carrero, and Melvin Endick, for your continued support of the visual and performing arts at JDA.

Moments like these remind us how powerful the arts are in bringing our school community together.

Reminder: Spring Pictures will take place on Thursday, April 30th.
If a student is absent, makeups will be held on Friday, May 1st.

Students are welcome to come to school dressed in their “Spring Best” for their photos (school-appropriate attire, as always).

Please note, this photo day is being held in place of the originally scheduled Lifetouch Spring Picture Day.

Recordatorio: Las fotos de primavera se llevarán a cabo el jueves 30 de abril.
Si un estudiante está ausente, las fotos de recuperación serán el viernes 1 de mayo.

Today, we had the privilege of celebrating our annual Black History Luncheon, graciously hosted by Mrs. Flowers and her dedicated Jerome Dunn Academy School No.9 committee. Their tireless efforts ensure that we honor African American culture with distinction, build meaningful connections, and savor the delicious food in each other's company. We thank all attendees, Mrs. Flowers, and the committee for their outstanding contributions to this fantastic celebration.
