4. Fee: $60.
5. Timeline: A Kentucky marriage license is valid for 30 days from the day it is issued, and the ceremony must take place in the state of Kentucky.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. If you want to show your support on the road, you can switch to the Alzheimer’s Awareness specialty license plate at the Hardin County Clerk’s Office.

A portion of the fee provides a charitable donation to organizations dedicated to Alzheimer's research and caregiver support. Most specialty plates are available for an initial fee of $44. You can make the switch at any time—you don't have to wait until your renewal month! Just bring your current license plate and your current registration to the Hardin County Government Building at 150 N. Provident Way in Elizabethtown, and we will take care of the rest.

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

County Clerk Brian D. Smith issued the following statement on the passing of former State Senator Dennis Parrett:

"Hardin County has lost a champion, an advocate, and a friend. The lasting impact of Dennis’s service is immeasurable. Brianne and I are praying for Lisa, their children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him. May God’s peace comfort them all.”

The registration renewal notice's have the Clerk's name and address on them, but are mailed by a vendor for the Department of Revenue. The June renewal notices have been mailed late, after this vendor has ONCE AGAIN failed in their responsibility.

Please note, you don't need to wait on the reminder notices. They are not required for you to renew.

ATTENTION CANDIDATES: The filing deadline is quickly approaching!

If you are running for a non-partisan office or one of the positions that will appear strictly on the November General Election ballot (marked in RED on our website: https://hccoky.org/20elections.asp), your deadline to file is Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 4 PM.

Because these offices skip the May Primary, this is your opportunity to get your name on the ballot. Make sure all paperwork is submitted to the Hardin County Clerk's Office before the clock strikes 4 PM on Tuesday!

The Hardin County Board of Elections will conduct an official recanvass of the ballots cast in the 8th Magisterial District Republican Primary election. Candidates, media and other interested parties are welcome to attend this public meeting.

- When: 9 AM Thursday, May 28
- Where: 1370 Rogersville Road in Radcliff (This address this works best for Google Maps but 1370 Joe Prather Hwy. is also correct.)

Candidate Jonathan Breeding filed a timely written request for the recanvass after the initial tally from the May 19 Primary showed him trailing incumbent Kenny Muse by just two votes, meeting the state's legal margin requirement of less than 1%.

Under Kentucky law, a recanvass is a verification process to ensure the accuracy of the original vote count. The Board of Elections will recheck all voting equipment printouts and absentee ballot totals, and verify the seal numbers on the machines. No machine programming will be altered, and no provisional ballots were issued in this race.

Once complete, the results will be reported to the State Board of Elections to become the official return.

Please note: A recanvass is a check of the machine totals and is distinct from a full recount, which is a separate legal process.
