YARD WASTE BAG RULES REFRESHER, PART II:
Folks, after this week’s collection, it appears that we still need to do a refresher course on the rules for the use of yard waste bags. There were multiple bags that caused problems again this week.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MAY NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE YARD WASTE BAGS TO DISPOSE OF GRASS CLIPPINGS, EXCESS DIRT OR SOIL.
This causes problems for the composting center in Columbia where the township pays a tipping fee to dispose of our yard waste. While we have a good relationship with Columbia and they beginning to complain about receiving materials that they cannot compost. There are very few options open to the township for disposal of yard waste. We CANNOT afford to lose Columbia as a disposal option.
Please do your part to help us keep this service intact and functioning correctly. Thanks!

Recently there have been some questions regarding the legality of riding certain electrically power vehicles on public roadways. Hopefully the chart below from PennDOT will help. Please note that dedicated streets within housing developments are public roadways.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE:
Bossler Road will be closed from Hess Road to Zeager Road beginning on Saturday, June 6th, through Monday, June 8th. If your regular travels take you through this area, please find another route.
The closure is for the reconstruction of the Elizabethtown Industrial Railroad's grade level crossing, located just north of the Amtrak overpass bridge. The work is being completed by the EIR's contractor.
This is a full road closure. No through traffic will be permitted. As with any road project, weather could be a factor and the closure could be extended if adverse weather delays the work.

YARD WASTE BAG RULES REFRESHER:
Folks, after this week’s collection, it appears that we need to do a refresher course on the rules for the use of yard waste bags. There were multiple bags that caused problems this week.
Please note that the following items MAY NOT be placed in yard waste bags:
1. Grass clippings from your yard (consider mulching instead of bagging).
2. Dirt and soil (remove as much as possible from root clusters).
3. Regular trash of any kind even if you think it might biodegrade.
All the items above cause problems for the composting center in Columbia where the township pays a tipping fee to dispose of our yard waste. While we have a good relationship with Columbia and they have not made a big issue to date, there are few options open to the township for disposal of yard waste if we should lose Columbia as a disposal option.
Please do your part to help us keep this service intact and functioning correctly. Thanks!

Consumer Grade Fireworks:
We've received reports of a resident using the township roadway in one of our developments to set off personal fireworks. Please note that state law requires that you obtain permission from the property owner before setting off personal fireworks if you are doing so from property that is not your own. Please also note that township roadways, including dedicated streets within housing developments, are the property of the township. The township does not give permission nor allow the public streets to be used for this purpose.

With all the sound and fury in the press and on social media surrounding data centers being planned for Lancaster and neighboring counties, it can be hard to determine fact from fiction.
In an effort to help cut through the noise, the Lancaster County Planning Department has published a whitepaper on data centers to help county residents better understand the issue. That whitepaper is available at the following link:
