⚠️⚠️A Boil Water Order is in effect for the Village of Saranac Lake, due to a water main break.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil in a clean container, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, use bottled water certified by NYSDOH, or use water from a public water system approved by NYSDOH. "If you are struggling with opioid use disorder get yourself on MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) and stick with it. Don't let the bureaucratic hoops you have to jump through discourage you because this is about staying alive and out of prison. You might think you are in so deep you can't climb out and salvage something of your life but it will amaze you how fast things get better once you are on MAT."

She's the BEST!

This ahead of the Fall Seminar, we're highlighting Linda Beers, Essex County, NY Health Director and Chair of our Public Health & Mental Health Standing Committee!

Linda began her career as a public school teacher before turning her attention to supporting individuals living with disabilities. After serving as Essex County’s Director of Services for Children with Disabilities, Linda became Director of Public Health in 2012—a role she has now held for more than a decade.

That experience gives Linda a valuable perspective as Chair of NYSAC’s Standing Committee on Public Health & Mental Health, which has advanced resolutions focused on strengthening the public health and behavioral health workforce, supporting local health departments in communicable disease response, securing resources for county mental health services, and reforming the competency restoration system.

These are complex challenges, but they share something important: counties are often where policies become services that directly impact people’s lives.

This September, Linda will once again lead the committee when NYSAC’s Standing Committees convene at the 2026 Fall Seminar in Onondaga County. These meetings give county officials an opportunity to bring their experience to the table, learn from one another and help shape NYSAC’s advocacy agenda for the year ahead.

👏 Thank you, Linda, for your leadership, your years of service to Essex County and your commitment to healthier communities across New York!

🍎 BACK TO SCHOOL, BACK TO FITNESS! 👟✨

Ready to restart your routine this September? We’re kicking off September with the Birthday Workout Challenge! 🎂💪

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Pick your Birth Month to get your exercise.
2️⃣ Pick your Age Range to get your rep count or seconds for the exercise. (And yes, if you tell everyone you're 29 every year... then 29 is officially your rep count! 🤫)
3️⃣ Put them together and get moving! Complete the exercise every day except Sundays.

Need to modify? No problem! Listen to your body—you can scale any move (like doing knee push-ups or chair squats) or split your total reps into two smaller sessions throughout the day.

👇 Giveaway Alert!
Tell us in the comments that you are participating in this month's challenge to be entered to win a smart scale or a pickleball paddle set!
