Caregiver Corner Spotlight: Mary Beth New

Caregiving is a journey fueled by patience, time, and an incredible amount of heart. This month, LTADD is proud to spotlight Mary Beth New of Hardin County, who serves as the primary caregiver for her grandmother. For Mary Beth, looking after her grandmother isn't a chore, it’s a natural extension of love.

Thank you, Mary Beth, and thank you to all the family caregivers across the Lincoln Trail region who work selflessly every day to keep their loved ones safe, comfortable, and smiling at home.

Remember: You don't have to navigate this journey alone. Through the National Family Caregiver Support Program, LTADD offers vital resources to help ease the load, including:
- Information & assistance navigating aging services
- Respite care to give primary caregivers a well-deserved break
- Supplemental services for essential supplies or home modifications
- Caregiver counseling and stress-management training

Growing older should bring a sense of community, not a feeling of being invisible.

Look closely at the world around you. Too often, our seniors become a blur in the background of a busy society. But at the Lincoln Trail Area Development District, our mission is to ensure that every individual in our eight-county region is treated with the dignity, respect, and attentive care they deserve.

Social isolation and chronic loneliness are significant, silent threats to the mental health of older adults. They can lead to severe anxiety, deep depression, and a decline in physical health.

No one should have to navigate their golden years feeling left behind or forgotten.

If you or a senior in your life are experiencing the heavy weight of loneliness, please know that your community is here for you. The Lincoln Trail Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is dedicated to breaking down these walls of isolation. We connect individuals to engaging local senior centers, community activities, essential nutrition programs, and supportive wellness networks designed to bring meaningful connection back into daily life.

You are never alone. Reach out to us today:

Let's pause, look around, and intentionally check in on our older neighbors. Together, we can ensure that aging in the Lincoln Trail region means staying connected, valued, and mentally healthy.

After a decade of discussion, Meade County is officially turning talk into action, and our Engineering Team is honored to play a small part in progress!

Meade County Judge/Executive Troy Kok recently hosted a special groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction on a brand-new, modern facility for the Road Department. The new 15,000-square-foot facility will serve as a high-functioning headquarters for the crews who work hard to keep our local transit routes safe.

As the regional hub for technical expertise, LTADD is incredibly proud to have partnered with Meade County on this milestone. Our Engineering, Design & Mapping Team handled the critical design work and groundwork to turn this long-awaited vision into reality.

The project was awarded to Prodigy Construction for $2,607,000, and construction is officially underway with an estimated 12-month completion timeline.

Thank you to Judge Kok and the Fiscal Court for trusting LTADD to help shepherd this project from the drawing board to the groundbreaking. We can't wait to see the doors open next year to better serve the citizens of Meade County!

A huge thank you to our amazing Senior Celebration vendors!

We want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the incredible vendors, health organizations, and community partners who joined us at our annual event.

Our regional seniors really enjoyed stopping by every table for a little bit of adult trick or treating. Senior Celebration vendors truly brought their A-game to make sure everyone felt supported, informed, and valued.

To every organization that set up a booth, shared their expertise, and spent the day connecting with our seniors, THANK YOU! You are the true champions of health in the Lincoln Trail region, and we couldn't have pulled off this event without you.
