🧡The post below was shared by a Merritt employee on her personal page recently. We believe her words encompass what Merritt employees represent & how we feel as a whole. It was so well written & well said, we asked her for permission to share. Here it is:
I usually don’t post about things like this, but after today I feel like I need too because it just makes my heart happy.
So many people ask why do you do this job? You can make more $ doing something else. Today was a perfect example.
I literally do it for the kids. School let out May 15th. I haven’t seen many of them since. Today I’m in town with my husband, we go into a place of business. There stands a HS kid who would normally never even speak to me, but I have made it my personal mission to force kids to say good morning, stand at the door every single day to tell them bye. Not just a normal hi or bye but also saying their name, acknowledge them, because I care.
I know nothing about this kid outside of school, but as soon as I walked in, this student grinned from ear to ear with a sweet consistent wave until I saw them and acknowledged them. This, this right here is why I love my job. I’m not anyone special, but I will always treat all these kids like they are my own.
Anyway I just felt like I needed this share this🤍 So if I have your kiddos at Merritt school just know I care & will always go above and beyond for each of them.
