Lt Schlott's 10 month old daughter, Raelynn, has been diagnosed with a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor. It is an extremely rare cancer in infants and young children with roughly 20-25 cases a year nationwide. Everyone should be in the mindset of fight, fortitude, and tenacity. No doom and gloom, just positivity and wishing the best of luck to Raelynn and the rest of the Schlott family.

The family has asked any donations be given to the St. Baldrick's Foundation

Congratulations Mike

We would like to congratulate Firefighter Michael Pestel on his 28 years of dedicated service to the Elk Grove Village Fire Department as he heads into retirement this morning, November 16, 2025.

Mike began his career with Elk Grove Village on September 9, 1997, serving as a paramedic, apparatus engineer, and member of the trench rescue team. In his final years, he was assigned to Quint 8 at Station 8. Throughout his career, Mike earned countless compliments and thanks for his work as a paramedic and his dedication to public education events.

Mike is known for his love of family and his pride in sharing his kids’ accomplishments in sports and school. In retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with them and enjoying the hobbies he picked up around the firehouse.

We will miss Mike’s good humor, thoughtful insight, and his uncanny ability to predict the annual shift change. Congratulations, Mike, you will be greatly missed, and we wish you the very best in retirement!
