This summer, we’re celebrating our freedom to read with a salute to America’s 250th birthday! We the readers are all about life, liberty and the pursuit of a good book. Get ready to let FREADOM ring!

Join our Adult Summer Reading Program and enjoy books from 13 “colonial” categories. As always, YOU choose the books you read based on our categories, but we offer plenty of suggestions. Complete 5 categories to earn your “We the Readers” T-shirt. For each book you read, earn a raffle ticket to enter in our prize drawings for gift cards from local restaurants and businesses.

Kids from birth through 8th grade are invited to dig into our exciting reading program this summer! Join us to discover dinosaurs, explore the underground world of plants and animals, uncover rocks and minerals, and unearth stories from the past. Search our themed book collections, participate in hands-on programs, earn exciting prizes, and make fascinating finds along the way. Get ready—your next adventure is waiting just beneath your feet!

Register at the Youth Services Reference Desk and receive a reading log.

Join the Friends of Cycling in Elk Grove to learn how you can add more biking to your summer – from everyday errands and quick trips to fun-filled solo or family adventures. Enjoy all the health and economic benefits of biking more!

Sign yourself or your family up for the “I Can Bike There!” Summer Challenge. Pick up your Challenge Checklist to fill out all summer long and turn in by August 31 for a chance to win a $50 gift card.
