Cosumnes Parks & Recreation At Cosumnes CSD, we provide exceptional parks and recreation services to our diverse Elk Grove community.

The Parks and Recreation Department vision is, "An inclusive and connected park, recreation, and trail system that delivers opportunities for health and wellness, and social interaction, and delight to the Elk Grove community." The Parks and Recreation Department oversees 90+ parks, 18 miles of off-street trails, two community centers, four recreation centers, and three aquatics facilities and provides recreational, sports, health, fitness and educational activities and special events for all ages. Our activity guide detailing all activities and a complete park listing is published three times per year and is available at Cosumnes CSD offices and on our activity guide webpage. The success of current and future programs depends on you and your participation. Show your support by registering for classes and attending one of our many special events. Don’t forget, if you have any feedback or questions regarding our parks, facilities or activities, please leave us a comment with our How Are We Doing Customer Service program.

🧦 SOCKTOBER is in full swing! ❤️

A little warmth can make a big difference!

For the sixth year, Cosumnes CSD is proud to partner with the EGUSD SAFE program to help local students facing challenges stay warm this winter. And we need your help!

We're collecting new socks, hats, gloves and mittens to bring a little warmth and comfort to students in need.

"You're joking, you're joking! I can't believe my eyes!" We're screening The Nightmare Before Christmas for free!

Bring the whole family out to October's seasonally spooky Movie in the Park! Enjoy free carnival games and bounce houses, and support young entrepreneurs at the Kids Markets before the show - then settle into your low-back lawn chairs and cozy blankets for a night with the Pumpkin King! If you find yourself in need of popcorn, you can purchase some from Purrfect Popcorn LLC, CA on site.

You may have seen our friends the egrets while visiting parks with bodies of water, like Camden Lake. October nears the end of migration season, and these elegant birds have nearly all vacated Elk Grove in search of warmer climates. But don't worry - they'll be back in the spring, just in time to develop green patches on their faces to signal breeding season!

🎃 It Isn’t Fall Until We’re Together 🎃

For 32 years, the Giant Pumpkin Festival has been more than giant pumpkins. It’s been families, farmers, volunteers, friends and neighbors coming together to make memories in the heart of Elk Grove.

What began as a small community weigh-off has grown into a tradition that marks the start of fall for thousands.

To everyone who helps bring it to life year after year, thank you. You are what keeps this tradition growing. ❤️

The forecast calls for floating pumpkins. ☀️🎃

With sunny skies and a high of 88°F expected Saturday, it’s the perfect weekend to take the pumpkin patch to the pool.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, Treasure Island and Castaway Cove at the Elk Grove Aquatics Center will be filled with floating pumpkins for Pool of Pumpkins.

Jump in. Pick your pumpkin. Then stick around for swimming, crafts and carnival games.

Some pumpkins become pie. Others are called to the open water. 🛶

For the second year in a row, Jonny Righetti paddled his way to 1st place in the Pumpkin Regatta, with his dad, Dave, finishing second and former champ Robert Cook taking third.

This was our 18th year sending giant pumpkins across the water at the Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival... and it never gets any less ridiculous.

🚨 We have a new record! 🎃

Napa farmer Linden Fowler took first place at today’s Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off with a 2,195-pound pumpkin, breaking the Elk Grove site record and taking home $7,000!

The win is especially impressive considering Linden has been growing giant pumpkins for just four years. He spends 4-5 hours each day tending his patch throughout the growing season, with his dog, Max, by his side. 🐶 Max often wanders between the plants and disappears beneath leaves taller than he is.

Linden credits much of his success to fellow growers who share advice and encouragement throughout the season. He says that growing giant pumpkins gives him a chance to connect with nature, keep learning, and be part of a community that helps each other grow. 🌱

You can see this giant up close on Sunday, October 4, on the final day of the 32nd annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival! 🧡

Reminder: Elk Grove Park will open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. on October 3 & 4 for the Giant Pumpkin Festival. This year, all vehicle entrances will be locked promptly at 6 p.m. for security and cleanup.

Cosumnes CSD thanks you for leaving the park once the festival ends for the day!
