Community BBQ Cook-off Rules
Entry Forms are available by emailing [email protected] is no entry fee.
One applicant per team must be 18 years or older.
Check โin & set up time is 7am. Spaces will be on first- come, first-serve basis. Set up must be completed by 8:30 am sharp. All vehicles must be out of cooking area by that time.
Up to two vehicles per team are allowed in contest area for set up only. Once set-up is complete vehicles must exit BBQ area.
The Elk Grove Western Festival is not responsible for theft, damage of personal property or injury to any contestant, family members or guests.
Judges will be chosen by the committee.
*Decisions of the Committee & Judges are final.*
Fire extinguishers must be provided by the contestants.
Each team is solely responsible for cleaning up of their designated area. Upon leaving the event, BBQ area will be inspected by staff members. Break down of your area is immediately after award ceremony on Sunday May 7, 2017.
The Chief cook is responsible for keeping his or her team members behavior in accordance with a family environment. Any unacceptable behavior is grounds for disqualification. You must adhere to park rules at all times.
All traffic areas in the contest area must be kept clear at all times.
Teams must provide all their own supplies. The EGWF will provide a 20x15 space, water-outlets and the containers for judging. Bring a hose as you will be close to the water outlet. * All Generators Must Be Quiet Operating.*
Teams must provide their own (3) cleaning bucket system for cleaning. (1) Water & soap for washing (2) clean water for rinse (3) water with cap full of bleach for sanitation.
All cook-off teams with children will receive carnival wristbands.
All meat must be packaged, raw and uncooked at check-in. Prior preparation is not permitted. They will be inspected upon set-up.
*THERE IS NO SELLING, GIVING AWAY OR TO-GO PLATES TO THE PUBLIC.
BBQ FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS ACCEPTABLE*
* NO SMOKING WHILE HANDLING OR COOKING FOOD*
All Photos taken will be used for publication.
Service animals are allowed, personal pets are not allowed in cooking areas.
Only charcoal, wood pellets & wood are allowed.
*Propane is NOT allowed to start your fire to cook your meat.*
Your entry container must contain 20 samples of your meat you are competing with. It may have kale, any type of green leafy garnish for presentation to the judges.
NO SALADS, SIDE DISHES, BREAD, ROLLS ETC. NO NAPKINS OR UNTENSILS ARE ALLOWED TO BE TURNED IN THE BOX WITH YOUR ENTRIES
