Our hearts are with the Durand Fire Department during this difficult time.

Our hearts are with the Durand Fire Department during this difficult time.

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

We intend to do a controlled burn of a small field near the 4600 block of 890th Street in the Town of Spring Brook around 6:30pm tonight. So far conditions are favorable for this event with a light wind to help carry the smoke away. We will reassess conditions at 6:00pm and give the final go/no go for the burn.

We will be escorting Noah Coughlan through our area at approximately 10:30am this morning. If you’re in the area, step out and give him a wave! He is currently running across all 50 states and will be only the 3rd person in history to do it.

Thank you for the kind words, we are always happy to help!

We hope you grab your friends and family and stop out and meet the wonderful new owners at Vino Cappuccino and grab a bite to eat!

We will be closed today after waking up to a fire in our garage/pole shed early this morning. We’re still processing everything, but our overwhelming feeling right now is gratitude.
Thank you to the Elk Mound Fire Department, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Dunn Energy Cooperative, and every other responder who showed up in the middle of the chaos. Of all our adventures at Vino so far, this has been the scariest by far — and these teams handled it with incredible speed, professionalism, and kindness. We truly can’t thank them enough.
If you’re wondering how to support us during this unexpected bump in the road, honestly… we’d just love to see you. Come eat at Vino, check in, and help us make new memories so these scarier ones fade a bit.
And if you’re able, please consider donating to the Elk Mound Fire District. We can’t imagine how much worse things could have been without their quick action.
Thank you all for your love and support. We’ll see you tomorrow during our normal hours.

Day or night, holidays, in the middle of dinner, or anytime else, this crew drops everything to help our community. The people wearing these shoes were comfortable at home tonight and didn’t think twice about responding to a strangers emergency. They have done this 76 times this year so far, and will continue doing so tomorrow and the next day. We are fortunate to have these great people living in our town.
