🇺🇸 9/11 REMEMBRANCE — FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS UNITY SEATS 🇺🇸

Please join us for a special 9/11 Remembrance Friday Night Lights Unity Seats event at Elk Point-Jefferson High School on Friday, September 11th, at 7:00 p.m.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies will host the Dakota Valley Panthers for an evening of football, remembrance and unity as we honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

We invite our community to come together, fill the Unity Seats and show that 25 years later, we remember. We honor. We stand united. 🇺🇸

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we take a moment to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage shown by first responders and ordinary Americans that day.

For many of us, we can still remember exactly where we were when we heard the news.

🚔 Please join us in welcoming Deputy Cameron Moore!

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the hiring of Deputy Cameron Moore.

Deputy Moore has been with the Union County Sheriff’s Office since May 2023 and has held multiple leadership roles within the Jail, including Chief Deputy Jailer and, most recently, Jail Administrator.

Through these positions, Deputy Moore has gained valuable experience in corrections, leadership, professionalism, and facility operations. We are excited to see him take the next step in his public safety career and continue serving the citizens of Union County in his new role as Deputy Sheriff.

Deputy Moore was officially sworn in on August 5th. Please join us in congratulating him and wishing him the best as he begins this new chapter! 👏🇺🇸

All of our Union County schools are back in session, which means our roads are a little busier with students, parents and school buses. ❤️

Please slow down, stay alert and watch for kids—especially around schools, bus stops and neighborhoods. 🚌

And remember, when you see those flashing red lights on a school bus, STOP! Give our kids the time and space they need to get to and from school safely.

If you ordered salt through the Elk Point-Jefferson Booster Club, deliveries will be made tomorrow morning, August 22.

🚧 Northshore Drive is opening soon!
We’re excited to see it open and get everyone moving again! With school starting, there will be more vehicles, buses, walkers and kids out and about—so slow down, stay alert and drive safe! 🚸
Reminder: The posted speed limits on Co Rd 1B and Co Rd 1 have NOT changed. Please watch the signs and obey the posted limits.
Have a great and safe school year!

UPDATE: Northshore Drive will reopen to through traffic at approximately 7 p.m. tonight, August 17, in time for the first day of school tomorrow. Crews will continue working on residential driveways, approaches and other finishing items, and traffic lines will be painted at a later date. Please use caution, slow down and give crews space as work continues.

The North Sioux City Police Department will also be in the area assisting with traffic during school arrival and dismissal.

Thank you for your continued patience as this important reconstruction project moves toward completion.
