A regular question that we get here at the hydro is that what do we do to control all of the lake debris that comes into the head race. Due to the heavy rains and flooding in the upper and lower chain of the lakes this season, we've gotten an unusually high volume of lake(s) debris. This video is an example of today's clearing and an 8 day period a where as normally this time of season, we would have a 1/4 of this debris for an entire month!
We always sort the general organic debris from larger logs and branches and always pull any non-organic waste (plastics, metal, etc) and and take it to the ER recycling location. The lighter brush is normally disposed of at the ER brush compactor spot or we take the larger items (logs, branches) to a family-owned farm in the area and use them in the fall for smores fire pit fun! However, anyone in the area is welcome to stop by and take some for your own fire pits!😄
