Downtown Construction Update for June 10 🚧
Main Street will open for traffic by the end of today, June 10. Sanitary sewer work will continue within the King Avenue parking on the far east side, limiting access to the rear entrances of businesses. No interruptions to sanitary sewer service are anticipated. Here are other important updates:

🌽 Elk River Farmers Market
The market officially kicks off Thursday, June 11, and is temporarily relocated to the Elk River YMCA. Support local vendors from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Parking is available within the YMCA lot or at the Sherburne County Fairgrounds. See a full map and more information at https://bit.ly/4xdWxlm

🎵 Riverfront Concert Series
The free concert series begins Thursday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m. at Rivers Edge Commons Park. Since the King Avenue lot is usually used for Farmers Market parking, we do not expect a major interruption to the concert series; however, we have worked with local businesses to develop Community Event Partners. These businesses have agreed to open their lots at 6:00 p.m. to concert attendees for additional parking. See the map and more information at https://bit.ly/3mLNOas

🚘 Parking Stall Closures Beginning June 15
CenterPoint Energy requires utility work to be completed for a customer the week of June 15. This is a separate, non-city-related project. However, the project will temporarily close several parking stalls on the south side of Main Street for about three days.

As always, please continue to support our local businesses; they are worth the walk! See all construction information on our webpage: https://bit.ly/4uRqZQk

Warm weather = door-to-door solicitor season
Some solicitors represent legitimate businesses or organizations, but some do not. Here are important things to know regarding soliciting in Elk River:
- A license is required – ask to see their city-issued ID badge/license or find them on the licensed list: https://bit.ly/4fkKiwL
- Don’t fall for high-pressure sale tactics. Make sure to read all documentation and check references.
- Know your rights. You have the right to say “no” and close your door. You can also choose not to answer at all.
- Report suspicious activity. It’s okay to call 911 if you encounter a solicitor who is aggressive or trespassing. Collect as much information as you can.

Wondering what’s going on near your home? You may be seeing one of two fiber construction companies working in your neighborhood.

Gateway Fiber and Metronet are actively installing fiber infrastructure throughout the city. Both companies are allowed to work within the public right-of-way and utility easement after obtaining the required permits. You may see white lines painted or various colored flags on your property. Please do not remove any flags as they mark underground utilities. White lines show the location of the underground fiber installation.

The installations typically take about a week once started, though restoration work may take longer. The city is not in control of their schedule. Additionally, the city is not responsible for restoration of the impacted areas, such as grass, irrigation systems, invisible fences, concrete, etc. Although the city does require grass be restored with topsoil and seed. Any questions or concerns should be directed to the company you see performing the work.
