Here’s a little school bus safety refresher:

🚍 Back to School Means Bus Safety! 🚍

Yellow Flashing Lights: Slow down and prepare to stop. The bus is about to pick up or drop off students.

Red Flashing Lights: STOP. Do not pass or come within 20 feet of the school bus. Remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing.

⚠️ Remember: On multi-lane roads without a physical barrier or raised/depressed median, traffic in both directions must stop when a school bus has its red lights activated.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office actively investigates school bus stop-arm violations and patrols areas where repeat violations occur.

💲 Penalties include:
• Minimum $500 fine for failing to stop.
• Passing on the right or passing when children are outside the bus may result in a gross misdemeanor.

📵 Drive distraction-free, obey the speed limit, and be extra alert during morning and afternoon school bus routes.

Drive Mellow. Look for Yellow. Help get every child to and from school safely. 🚌

August City Council Highlights 🏛️

Catch up on what’s happening in Otsego! Here are some key highlights from the August City Council meetings:

August 10th Meeting:

🏘️ New Residential Development: Approved final plats for Meadows of Otsego 3rd Addition and Meridian Fields.

💧 South Central Water Treatment Plant: Approved the contract for a new water treatment facility that will expand Otsego’s ability to treat and deliver drinking water as the community grows. Phase 1 includes a 750,000-gallon ground storage reservoir, additional treatment capacity and room for future expansion.

August 24th Meeting:

🌳 2026 Greenway Trail Projects: Awarded a contract for trail improvements, including the Otsego Creek Greenway Trail Connection, which will add a wetland bridge and short trail connections to link existing trail segments.

👷 Public Works Manager: Approved hiring for the Public Works Manager position to support Otsego’s growing public works operations and infrastructure needs.

🏋️ Revolution Gym: Plans are underway for a new Revolution Gym facility on the MRD Christ Lutheran Second Addition, bringing another business and recreational opportunity to Otsego.

💧 Water Revenue Bond: The City Administrator presented information on a proposed water revenue bond to help finance major water system improvements and support Otsego’s long-term water needs.
