Sherburne County was organized Feb. 25, 1856 and was named after Moses Sherburne, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Minnesota Territory. CORRECTION to dates …
County Road 4 and County Road 11 roundabout project update (Video was taken two weeks ago):
Today, the concrete paving should be completed. Temporary lighting will be installed next week and in place until December, when permanent poles arrive. The week of Sept. 8 will see work on boulevards, touch up behind the curb and gutter, and prepping for paving and seeding. Final paving, shouldering, sign instillation and striping is scheduled for the week of Sept. 14. The roundabout is scheduled to be open the afternoon of Sept. 18.

Starting at 6 a.m. Friday, traffic on U.S. Highway 169 will switch from the southbound lane to the newly constructed northbound lane.
As part of this change, southbound Highway 169 will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. This short-term closure is needed for crews to safely move barrier.
Along with this change, the following accesses to Highway 169 will permanently close:
5th Avenue
Gateway Drive
Main Street

The Highway 169 and County Road 4 intersection will remain closed.
To access Highway 169 from the west, use 269th Avenue or 255th Avenue.
To access Highway 169 from the east, use the newly constructed roundabout at County Road 4 and Fremont Drive.

Late the week of August 24, traffic will switch from the southbound lane of Highway 169 to the newly constructed northbound lane, beginning the next phase of the project.

Update on U.S. Highway 169 and County Road 4 Road Construction:
Starting at 6 a.m. Friday, August 28, traffic will switch from the southbound lane of Highway 169 to the newly constructed northbound lane.
As part of this change, southbound Highway 169 will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, August 28. This short-term closure is needed for crews to safely move barrier.
Detour: use 269th Avenue, County Road 45, 255th Avenue.
Along with this change, the following accesses to Highway 169 will permanently close:

5th Street
Gateway Drive
Main Street

The Highway 169 and County Road 4 intersection will remain closed.

To access Highway 169 from the west, use 269th Avenue or 255th Avenue.
To access Highway 169 from the east, use the newly constructed roundabout at County Road 4 and Freemont Drive.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, August 28, the Freemont Drive and County Road 4 intersection will have a temporary 3-way stop installed. This temporary traffic control change is needed while crews work on switching traffic to the northbound lanes on Highway 169.
The temporary stoplight off of Freemont Drive at Highway 169 and Oak Street will remain in place.

Sherburne County commissioners will hold two meetings in August to discuss the 2027 budget.
The first meeting will be Aug. 25 at about 2:30 p.m. The second will be Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Both meetings will be in the county boardroom at the Government Center in Elk River. The public is invited to attend.
Both meetings will include discussion about the proposed 2027 budget and levy.
