A rescued bat is going viral after people noticed it looks just like Mater from Cars.
The animal, an Australian tube nosed bat, was found caught in barbed wire and taken in by wildlife rehabilitator Jasmine Vink, who helped nurse it back to health. A photo from the rescue is now spreading online, with many pointing out its wide smile and buck teeth that resemble the animated tow truck character.
The bat has since recovered and is expected to return to the wild, while the viral moment has also drawn attention to the species, which plays an important role in pollination and seed dispersal in its ecosystem.
"This little face," one user wrote, while others debated whether it looks more like Mater or a video game character, as the image continues to circulate across social media.
