🚨 Attention, everyone! We have a BOLO out on Mother Nature… 🌧️⛈️

Unfortunately, she decided to interrupt tonight’s fireworks celebration with a little too much enthusiasm. As a result, tonight’s fireworks have been postponed. 🎆💔

The good news? This isn’t necessarily goodbye to the fireworks! City officials have shared that they will either be rescheduled or repurposed for a future event. We’ll be sure to share any updates as soon as an official announcement is made.

We know this isn’t the news anyone was hoping for, but the safety of our community, staff, vendors, and everyone involved always comes first.

In the meantime, stay safe, stay dry, and if you happen to see Mother Nature… tell her she owes us one spectacular fireworks show. 😉❤️🤍💙

Good morning, Elkhart!

What a storm we had move through overnight. As you begin heading out this morning, please use extreme caution. We have numerous trees and power lines down, along with several traffic signals that are completely out.

Our Forestry, AEP, Street, and Traffic Departments are working hard to clean up Mother Nature’s mess and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Since the storm began, our 9-1-1 Center has handled more than 200 calls. We ask that you reserve 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies and use our non-emergency lines for all other reports.

To report a power outage, please visit:

https://www.aep.com/customer-service/outage/

To report downed trees or storm damage that is not creating an immediate roadway hazard, please use the MyElkhart311 app or submit a request online:

https://www.cityofelkhartin.gov/residents-and-services/myelkhart311/

If you can stay home today, please do. If you must travel, slow down, treat dark traffic signals as four-way stops, and watch for crews working throughout the city.

Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe!
