Jonathan Franco Guzman: Quarterfinalist in International Extemp

Kessa Krecsmar: Semifinalist in Impromptu and U. S. Extemp

Our speech season ends here. But stay tuned for ways to support the team as we prepare for Nationals in June.

State Speech Update:

Jonathan Franco Guzman in International Extemp and Kessa Krecsmar in Impromptu & U.S Extemp both made the cut to Quarterfinals (top 24 in the state). Stay tuned to see if they make it to Semifinals.

2026 Sectional Team: 4th Overall in Section 2

State Qualifiers are:
Kessa Krecsmar--SECTIONAL CHAMPION in Impromptu & U.S. Extemp
Lilli Daniels & Kaylee Pickens--4th in Duo
Lizzy Evans--5th in Prose
Jonathan Franco Guzman--3rd in International Extemp.

They will compete at the ISSDA State Finals on March 14 at Penn H.S.

A strong showing today at the Northeast Indiana District Debate Tournament:

Senior Kessa Krecsmar won LD, earning her 2nd qualification to the National Tournament in Richmond, VA in June.

The teams of Lizzy Evans & Aliah Munoz and Jonathan Franco Guzman & Paola Garcia placed 4th and 3rd respectively in Public Forum Debate.

Additionally, the team earned the District Debate Sweepstakes Award and the Overall District Sweepstakes Award.

Next up is the Sectional Speech tournament at Concord next Saturday, Feb. 28th.

We have some upcoming tournaments and are in need of some judges:

February 14th: Plymouth High School (could use 1-2 extra if you're available and interested).

February 21: District Debate at Concord H.S.
February 28: Sectionals at Concord H.S. (need 4-5 more judges)

March 14: State Speech at Penn H.S. (yes, you read that right).
--Can use as many of you out there who are willing and able to judge to help out our Evansville friends.

CONGRATS to Jonathan Franco Guzman and Kessa Krecsmar. Both broke to elimination rounds in their events.

Jonathan--Semifinals in Congress (Top 45)
Kessa--Octofinalist in LD (top 16 from a field of 69.

The team was at Bishop Dwenger today.

We have our first national qualifier for 2026. Headed to Richmond, Virginia in June is senior Kessa Krecsmar in the Senate.

Speech meet results include:

Kaylee Pickens & Lilli Daniels —5th in duo
Lizzy Evans—5th in poetry.

Next up is district debate with a regular speech meet at Penn next Saturday.

Concord Speech/Debate Team Fans: We are looking for some judges for upcoming tournaments. Please let me know if you are able to help us out.

November 8: Penn (Debate)
November 15: Concord (Speech and Debate)
November 22: Elkhart (Speech)
December 6: Plymouth (Speech)

We will also will need food for judges on November 15th as well :)

The debate team competed at Bethany Christian today with the following results:

Senior Kessa Krecsmar went UNDEFEATED (4-0) in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas.

Junior Jonathan Franco Guzman placed 5th in his Varsity Congress Chamber.

Next up the team is the November 1st LaPorte Debate and Novice Speech Meet.
