🏫The school year is here! Here are some safety tips to remember:

🚸 Back-to-School Safety: Drivers, Slow Down!

As kids head back to school, our roads and neighborhoods get busier. Drivers can help keep our students safe by staying alert and slowing down.

🚗 Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods. Watch for reduced speed limits and obey them.

🚌 Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and lights are flashing. We posted a great visual reminder of this yesterday, https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ErBDRZ3Sx/

🚶 Watch for pedestrians. Children may suddenly cross the street or move into the roadway. Be prepared to stop.

📵 Put the phone down. Keep your eyes on the road and your attention on driving.

🚦 Follow crossing guards and traffic signals. Always stop for a crossing guard or officer holding up a stop sign. Give children and crossing guards plenty of time and space to safely cross.

🚗 Be extra cautious near schools during drop-off and pick-up. Expect congestion, stopped vehicles and children moving between cars.

💡 Leave a little earlier. Giving yourself extra time can help prevent rushing and dangerous driving decisions.

A few extra seconds can make all the difference. Let's work together to make getting to and from school safe for every child. 🚌🎒
