September 11 | We Remember

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, military members, and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage and compassion in the face of tragedy.

In the days that followed, we saw something powerful: people came together. Neighbors helped neighbors. Communities rallied around those who were hurting. Strangers became sources of strength and hope.

At Crossroads United Way, we believe that same spirit of unity is what makes a community strong and resilient. We fight for communities where people have someone to turn to, resources to rely on, and neighbors willing to stand beside one another—especially in the moments when they need it most.

On this September 11, we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and carry forward the spirit of compassion and unity that brought us together.

We remember. We honor. We stand united. 🇺🇸

When “T” was diagnosed with lung cancer, she faced not only a difficult treatment schedule but also the challenge of getting to appointments several times each week while living alone and on a limited budget.

Through our partnership with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, “T” was connected with a client advocate who helped arrange transportation to treatment, provided a wig during chemotherapy, and supplied helpful health and nutrition resources.

Your generosity helps neighbors like “T” face cancer with care, support, and hope. Give today - together, we build community. crossroadsuw.org/donate

Today is 988 Day. 💙

Today, we’re reminded that reaching out for support can make all the difference—and that mental health is about more than getting through a crisis. It’s also about connection, belonging, purpose, and knowing you’re not alone.

Zach found that connection at Lexington House.

Through the Clubhouse, Zach gained employment, transportation assistance, opportunities to engage in community events, and the chance to build new skills and friendships. He found support, confidence, and a stronger sense of community.

Today, Zach proudly celebrates five years as a transitional employee—a milestone made possible through the partnership between Lexington House and Crossroads United Way.

Stories like Zach’s remind us why building a supportive community matters. When people have places where they feel seen, valued, and connected, they have a stronger foundation to move forward.

On 988 Day, we encourage everyone to know the number, share the number, and reach out when support is needed.

📞 Call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Your generosity also helps create opportunities for neighbors like Zach to build financial stability, confidence, and connection.

Together, we build community. 💙

📅 Mark your calendars: 9/8 is . 💙

This year’s theme, “988 Reasons: Your reason is reason enough,” reminds us that you don’t have to be in crisis to reach out. Anxiety you can’t explain. Feeling overwhelmed. Loneliness. Uncertainty. Sometimes, simply knowing you’re not okay is reason enough to ask for support.

At Crossroads United Way, we fight for a community where no one has to navigate those moments alone. We work alongside partners like Lexington House to create opportunities for connection, stability, confidence, and belonging—because building a stronger community means caring for the whole person.

This , help us spread the message: There are 988 reasons to reach out, and your reason is reason enough.

📞 Call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Together, we can build a community where people know help is available, connection matters, and they are never alone.

Together, we build community.

🛠️ NEW SPONSORS. NEW PARTNERS. BIGGER IMPACT.🧹💙

We’re excited to welcome Exo-s US in Howe as a Silver Screwdriver Sponsor and Enterprise Staffing Solutions LLC as a Bronze Broom Sponsor for Crossroads United Way’s Day of Caring!

Thank you for choosing to invest in the communities where you live, work and serve. We’re so grateful to have you alongside us! ❤️

📅 What is Day of Caring?

On October 16, businesses, community partners and volunteers from across our region will come together for a day of hands-on service — helping local nonprofits and community organizations tackle projects that make a real difference.

From painting and cleaning to landscaping, organizing and other much-needed projects, Day of Caring turns volunteer time into action and action into stronger communities.

And sponsorship makes that impact possible. Your support helps provide the supplies, resources and coordination needed to bring volunteers together and complete projects that organizations often don’t have the time or resources to tackle on their own.

💙Today is the LAST DAY to become a Day of Caring sponsor!

If your business has been thinking about getting involved, this is your last chance to join Exo-s and Enterprise Staffing Indiana as a community partner.

Let’s show what we can accomplish when we build community together.
