Elkhorn, we’re getting close to 1,000 survey responses!

More than 900 responses have already been submitted across the five surveys as part of the City’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan. We’d love your help reaching 1,000 before the surveys close on September 30.

Your input will help shape decisions about housing, transportation, development, community services, downtown, and quality of life in Elkhorn for years to come.

Choose the survey topic that matters most to you, or take all five. Every response helps us better understand the priorities, concerns, and ideas of the community.

A comprehensive plan serves as the City’s long-term guide for future growth and development. It helps establish a shared vision for Elkhorn and provides direction for future decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, infrastructure, economic development, community facilities, and other important priorities through 2050.

Thank you to everyone who has participated so far and helped make this such a strong community response.

The City was recently notified of a proposed transmission line project by Midcontinent Grid Solutions that could impact the City of Elkhorn, especially those residents near Voss Rd. and on the west side of the City. The proposed 765 kilovolt transmission line would run approximately 190 miles through southern Wisconsin and connect to a substation on or near Voss Road in Sugar Creek—before continuing on to a connection point on the Wisconsin/Illinois border.
Here is a link for more information about the project. https://mgs-projects.com/beci
There is also a map showing the possible routes that could impact the City attached to this post.

Midcontinent is hosting open houses about the project next week. You can also provide comment by emailing [email protected] or calling 608-895-0798.

The Elkhorn Common Council will be discussing this project at its Council meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and will consider whether to take a position on the proposal.

was August 11th, and while we may have missed the official date, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate our community and the people who make it special.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve, connect, and be part of such a wonderful community. So, here’s our slightly-late-but-still-smiling !

Better late than never! 🙃

Help shape the future of Elkhorn!

The City of Elkhorn is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a long-range guide for the community’s growth and development through 2050. We want to hear from the people who live, work, and spend time in Elkhorn about what matters most to them.

Five short surveys are available at Elkhorn 2050

🏠 Housing & Neighborhoods
🚗 Traffic, Parking & Transportation
🏗️ Land Use & Development
🏛️ Community Facilities & Services
🌳 Downtown & Quality of Life

Choose the survey that matters most to you, or take them all! Each survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. Your feedback will help guide future decisions and ensure the plan reflects the community’s priorities.

GFL Environmental has recently experienced a few incidents directly caused by lithium batteries in the trash. They have provided information to help educate residents abouts items that most commonly cause load fires. The infographic also includes a QR code and website where residents can find drop-off locations for their lithium batteries in addition to other available disposal outlets such as county clean sweep programs.
