Please keep Roaring River Fire Department and the Pierce family in your thoughts and prayers. Dale will be greatly missed!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Retired Fire Chief Dale Pierce, who passed away today at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem as a result of injuries sustained from a fall on January 9th. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Chief Pierce will be truly missed by his family, the community, and all members of the Roaring River Volunteer Fire Department. His years of service, leadership, and dedication left a lasting impact on all who had the honor of knowing and working alongside him.

Please keep the Pierce family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be shared as soon as they become available.

Rest easy, 2921.

Austin Fire & Rescue held our annual Firefighter Christmas Dinner tonight. Each October, as part of our annual meeting, the firefighters vote for Firefighter of the Year, Medical Responder/EMT of the Year and a special award in remembrance of two of the most dedicated members we have ever had, the David and Lisa Royal Service Award.

Congratulations to Firefighter of the Year and the 2025 recipient of the David & Lisa Service Award, Chief Brian Cothren.

Congratulations to Training Officer Greg Peak, 2025 Medical Responder of the Year.

A big thank you to all of our members and their families for the sacrifices all of them make each and every year. From training to responding to calls for the betterment of the community, we’re proud of all the time and effort each one of them puts in every single day.

We wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a wonderful prosperous New Year!
