It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Wade Mounce, Father of Assistant Chief David Mounce, who served CC Camp Volunteer Fire Department faithfully for more than 40 years.
Wade was there from the very start. He was one of the first four community members to sign the petition that brought our fire department into being, and he became a charter member when it was founded. He didn't just join the department - he helped build it, working through the construction phase to help raise the very building we've called home ever since.
Over the decades, he also gave many years of leadership as a member of the Board of Directors, helping guide the department he helped create.
Four decades of service. A charter member. A builder. A leader. Wade was there at the beginning, and his mark on this department will remain for as long as it stands. He will be deeply missed by all of us who were fortunate to serve alongside him.
Arrangements have not yet been made. We will share details with the department as soon as they become available.
Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

WHAT THEY DONโ€™T SEE BEHIND THE SIRENS

People see the fire truck.

They hear the sirens.

They see the uniform, the helmet, the bravery.

But they donโ€™t always see the man underneath it all.

They donโ€™t see him walking into situations most of us would run from.

They donโ€™t see the things his eyes have witnessed that he may never talk about.

They donโ€™t see the calls that follow him home.

The exhaustion he tries to shake off before walking through the front door.

The moments when he sits quietly, maybe a little longer than usual, because some days are harder to leave at the station.

And stillโ€ฆ

When those tones drop again, he goes.

Someone is scared.
Someone needs help.
Someone may be having the worst day of their life.

And he goes.

Thatโ€™s bravery.

Not because he doesnโ€™t feel fear.
Not because nothing affects him.
But because he knows what this job can ask of himโ€”and he continues to answer the call.

So today, this oneโ€™s for the firefighters.

We see you.

Not just the uniform.
Not just the hero everyone else sees.

We see the human being behind the sirens. โค๏ธ๐Ÿš’

And we hope you always remember that the people waiting at home are incredibly proud of you.
