It is with great sadness the C. C. Camp Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Osler J. Jenkins one of our founding members. Osler passed away on May 22nd 2026 at the age of 91 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Osler had a tremendous impact on the founding of our department in 1980, under his very own carport, Osler helped start the C. C. Camp Volunteer Fire Department alongside Wade Mounce, George Wilmoth, and Al Sloop. What began as a humble effort grew into something meaningful for the community, and Osler faithfully served for 35 years. Osler helped build equipment, the building and assisted with many components of what paved the way for our members today. He was one of the folks that was very instrumental in getting this department up and going. What began as a humble effort grew into something meaningful for the community, and Osler faithfully served for 35 years. His commitment to protecting and serving others stands as a testament to the kind of man he was selfless, dependable, and deeply rooted in community. We ask everyone to keep the family and community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tanner Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

On behalf of the Board, Officers, and Members of the C. C. Camp Volunteer Fire Department we are pleased to announce that we have been selected to receive $14,877.12 to purchase needed equipment. This grant is a 50/50 matching grant through the Office of State Fire Marshal. This funding allows our department to purchase equipment needed to better serve the community. We are thankful for this funding that will assist us to continue serving our citizens at the highest level!
