UPDATE: Dog has been re-homed. Thanks to everyone who reached out to help us. Sheriff Rob Elbon. The Sheriffs office is looking for someone to look after this female hound. We were called to Mower Tract Campground on Cheat Mountain. She has been there running loose for several days. Humane Society said they would take her yesterday but we couldn’t catch the dog. We got a call this morning and caught the dog. She is not aggressive and is friendly. The Humane society is unable take this dog today. If someone would like to foster this ole girl call in to 3046362000 and a deputy will call you back.

FRAUD ALERT! If you have a house for sale or a rental property BEWARE! A local resident who is trying to sell his house was notified that his home was on TikTok being advertised as a rental property. When the homeowner called the phone number provided for the “rental property,” a foreign sounding man obviously not from West Virginia answered the phone. He advised the rightful homeowner to send him $100 and to fill out an online application for the rental. The scammer was very informative and knowledgeable about the property. The imposter had photos of the rightful owner’s property and home. This scammer was very hard to understand from his strong dialect. The property owner went and took a photo of himself in front of his home. While doing this the scammer started to text him about rental details for the property. The property owner called the scammer back and “politely” called him out and advised him “nice try”. PLEASE do not fall for these scams online. Unless you can call a local real estate agent or can contact the property owner directly through friends or acquaintances do not do business with these people. Do Not send money for applications or rent money online. I have attached a screenshot of the scammers page so we can expose him for what he is. Thanks Sheriff Rob Elbon

Thursday July 16, I went to Stonewall Resort for a luncheon and accepted an award for the Sheriff’s Office from the (ESGR) Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for WV. I was nominated by Captain B.A. Talkington of the sheriff’s office for this award. Bryan has served 33 years in the military and is currently stationed at the WV Air National Guard 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg. He has been deployed on multiple assignments to serve his country over his 33 years of service. I was proud to accept this award for the sheriff’s office and for the veterans who serve as deputies in our office. I’m also proud to accommodate the National Guard and Reserve members that make up our sheriff’s office law enforcement division. Chief Deputy Brad Sharp makes up the very detailed difficult schedule to allow these active duty service members the ability to serve their country. Active service members of our law enforcement division include Bryan Talkington listed above, Senior Deputy K-9 handler Aaron Channell Sgt First Class with 201st field artillery battalion and Deputy Connor Waldron, Sgt with the HHB 201st field artillery battalion out of Fairmont. Other Deputies who are military veterans are Cpl Aaron Beverly Army, Cpl Dave Vanmeter Army, Cpl Brian Roy Marines, Deputy AG Vanscoy Army, and Deputy Lantz Elbon Army. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️
