Greetings to All!
My name is Robert Hunton and I am one of the five stellar electrical Instructors currently teaching at Great Basin College. My background in electrical technology started at Elko High School in 1994 while I was a student in Jerry William’s electronics program. A former F-111 pilot, Jerry taught us to build circuits, manipulate wave forms, and perform digital circuit diagnostics. After leaving high school I joined the Navy where I attended ITA school in Chicago, Illinois. After graduation I was given orders as a Network Administrator at Naval Station North Island, Coronado at the HSL-41 Seahawks Helicopter Training Squadron. During that time, I married my lovely wife Karrie, and together we built our family and future together.
In 2007 Karrie and I had our first daughter Taylor and we chose to move back to Elko where much of our extended family was located. Our change in location necessitated a change in career paths for both of us. Karrie is now the communications manager at Elko County Regional Communications Center (Emergency Dispatch). As for myself, I graduated the electrical and instrumentation programs at GBC, then worked as an E&I tech in the mines and returned full circle as in an instructor here at GBC. I now get to spend more free time with my family, including our second daughter Sage.
It’s an honor and privilege to serve our growing community. A special thanks to: Steve Garcia, Bob Byram, Bret Murphy, Stephen Thariault, all the staff who continue to support and strengthen our school, all my former graduates, Taylor and Sage, and especially to Karrie who has supported me all this way. I couldn’t have done it without any of you!

When Great Basin College 🎓wanted to educate teachers about how their high school students could earn college credits, they didn’t just send the message, they wrapped it in this Pop up Pen Holder.

Given the importance of the message, they didn't want to send a conventional postcard that would most likely get tossed in the trash. 🗑
