As we near summer break from school, below is the Work Permit Requirements for youth. If you have questions, please contact us.
Work Permit Requirements
It is legal to work in Nevada beginning at age 14. However, the number of hours a minor may work are restricted until age 16, which is why some employers won't hire workers under 16.
A work permit is NOT required in the state of Nevada; however, some employers request one for insurance purposes. If that is the case, a work permit can be issued at the Juvenile Probation Office. A parent or guardian must be present to sign the application, and proof of the child’s birth must be provided. There is no fee for a work permit, and permits are issued immediately.
The work permit is employer- and duty-specific, so a person must be promised a job before obtaining one.
