The Elko District's fire program transferred a Type 4 fire engine to Elko County Fire Protection District last week. This particular engine carries an 850 gallon tank and sprays up to 100 gallons/minute. As part of the BLM’s Rural Fire Readiness (RFR) program, the district was able to transfer this vehicle to enhance the firefighting capabilities of our wildland firefighting partners.
The RFR program allows the BLM to provide training and equipment to our partners – at no cost to them - so we can continue to safely and efficiently suppress wildland fires together.
