Cecil Soil Conservation District

Cecil Soil Conservation District Providing agricultural support in preserving Cecil County's water and soil. The District is responsible for all of Cecil County.

The Cecil Soil Conservation District (CSCD) was formally organized on June 26, 1945 under a charter signed by Maryland's Secretary of State. On August 27, 1945, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was entered into between CSCD and USDA's Soil Conservation Service (now, the Natural Resources Conservation Service). Since that time, the CSCD has entered into more than 25 MOU's with various conservati

on partners. Cecil County is located in the northeast corner of the state and is bounded on the west by the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. The District promotes nutrient management, cover crops and land preservation, and is responsible for the review of all erosion and sediment control plans. The District administers and provides technical assistance for the Maryland Agricultural Water Quality Cost-Share Program, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, and many other USDA Farm Bill Programs.

Cecil County be proud of your soil conservation district! Several of us attended the Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts summer meeting in Cambridge and last night was the award ceremony. We were awarded the Conservation Education District Award for the fifth year in a row! This would not be possible without the hard work of our amazing staff, District Manager, Chris Brown and our Board. Thank you MASCD!

Today was an incredible day for Children's Day at the Cecil County Fair. The District prepared 150 bags for kids to color conservation and these bags were all gone within the first hour of the event! Thank goodness we had a back up craft encouraging conserving water. We want to send a big thank you to the three students from the Cecil County School of Technology Ag Science Program. We were so very grateful to have your assistance with the event today.
