Volunteer Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed

Do you have a couple of hours to spare on a weekday morning? FISH Community Food Bank is looking for volunteer drivers to help deliver Meals on Wheels to local seniors.

As a Meals on Wheels driver, you'll provide more than a meal. You'll help neighbors remain independent and connected while bringing a friendly face to their day.

Volunteer shifts are approximately 2 hours on weekday mornings, and mileage is reimbursed at 72.5¢ per mile.

Seniors, did you know that Josie's Misfit Ranch has a program to connect senior humans and senior pets?

Josie's Misfit Ranch offers a special Seniors for Seniors program, matching senior pets with senior adults (55+) right here in Kittitas County.

For many seniors, the companionship of a pet can bring comfort, purpose, and joy. Studies show that pets can help reduce loneliness, improve mood, and support overall health.

This program is designed to make pet companionship accessible and worry-free:
• Senior dogs and cats are matched with senior adults
• All food, supplies, and veterinary care are covered
• Pets will always have a safe place to return if needed

That means you can enjoy the companionship of a pet without the financial burden or long-term worry.

Participants should be able to have pets in their home, care for an animal, and access transportation for vet visits.

If you’ve ever thought, “SNAP isn’t for people like me,” you’re not alone. Many older adults feel this way — especially those who worked for decades or have always taken care of themselves.

SNAP is not a handout or charity. It’s a federal nutrition benefit, similar to Social Security or Medicare, funded through taxes and available to people who meet eligibility guidelines. If you qualify, you are entitled to receive it.

For seniors on fixed incomes, SNAP is designed to help:

-Offset rising grocery costs
-Manage higher medical or prescription expenses
-Support healthy, independent living

Using SNAP does not affect:
-Your Social Security
-Your Medicare

This program exists so older adults can eat well and live with dignity — especially after a lifetime of work and contribution.

Our SNAP Coordinator, can help you find out if you qualify and walk you through the process.
