From ‘Puget Sound Pattern’: we will be looking to add someone in June as I have a journeyman that is retiring! We are looking for someone that wants to supply customers with patterns (a combination of hand built and CNC machined), and has an interest to work in a wood shop environment.

A big "THANK YOU!" to D&L Foundry for hosting our CWU Casting Class at their facility. Jason McGowan lead a dozen students through each process and discussed future plans. Interviews were held earlier for internship positions, and plans were made to host AFS at the CWU Foundry. What a great day! Dr. J

Sponsored by the Foundry Educational Foundation, the 2018 College Industry Conference (CIC) was held on November 15 and 16 (https://fefinc.org/news-events-18/235-news-cic-18.html ) at the Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago. This is the premier event for the metalcasting industry where students can meet and network with over 100 peers from the top engineering programs across North America, while interfacing with industry personnel from top-tier foundries. To our CWU Casting Friends: On Saturday we had a wonderful 46th Annual Pattern Swap! It was a great day with old friends (thanks to the Keltner’s for the sander patterns) and new ones. Please welcome Chris Gallager, who is setting up a foundry at Granite Falls High School (north of Everett). We were able to send him off with some equipment and new contacts. Thanks also to our CWU students for making it a safe and productive day of casting and comradery. I am grateful to be a part of such a welcoming and supportive community; Craig Johnson.
