What: Review and comment on the proposed Chapter 2 of the Comprehensive Plan
When: September 5 until September 30, 2026.
How: Please comment on the document: https://scj.konveio.com/ellensburg-2046-comprehensive-plan-update-chapter-2-our-community or submit written comments to Planning Manager Stacey Henderson, [email protected].

Note: All proposed chapters except Chapter 2 were previously available for review and comment on the city project page, from June 30- July 31. Chapter 2 was not included at that time due to continual work and discussion amongst the project team. It is not a required element, and therefore, providing a later comment period is permissible.

Be prepared for road closures on Saturday, September 5 for the Ellensburg Rodeo Parade. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Closures will begin at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. Alder Street, University Way, Pearl Street, Pine Street, Second Avenue, and Fifth Avenue will be closed for parade traffic. Please use alternate routes.

Applicants, developers, engineers, and other interested stakeholders are invited to attend an informational session about the City’s recent Stormwater Standards Update from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, at Hal Holmes Community Center, 209 N. Ruby St.

The session will provide an overview of the updated Stormwater Standards, currently scheduled for adoption at the September 9, 2026 Administrative Hearing, and explain changes to the stormwater review and permitting process.

Following the presentation, attendees may visit informational stations focused on specific project classifications, permitting requirements, and review procedures. For questions, contact the Public Works Department at (509) 962-7230.

The plan provides a roadmap for the future of Ellensburg’s urban forest and will help guide how we plant, maintain, protect, and grow our community’s trees.

The public comment period is open September 1 through September 14, 2026. Review the plan and share your thoughts with us!
