MARINE RESCUE AND A BUSY WATER WEEKEND AHEAD
Just after 7:30 p on 7/1/25 Kittcom received a 911 call from five adults in a sinking raft and no life preservers, clinging to a cliff face in the Yakima River. They were unable to move from the rock wall without being pulled under by the river's strong current near the Lmuma Creek recreation area. The deputy who took this photo used binoculars to help spot the rafters from SR821 and guide the responding Marine Patrol deputies in. All five subjects were brought on board uninjured and hauled to shore.

Sheriff's Office Marine Units will be on our county's lakes and rivers during the coming holiday weekend, enforcing safe and sober boating laws and working to ensure the welfare of everyone on the water. If you plan to hit any of our waterways, please know the area where you're boating or swimming, equip yourself appropriately, and boat sober!
